The term "addiction" has become widespread in our society. In this article, I examine the expansion of the medical addiction metaphor to numerous types of behavior. A review of the largely self-help addiction-related literature, selling tens of millions of copies per year, reveals a common path for recovery from these addictions.

Of 66 patients exhibiting Raynaud's phenomenon who have been followed from 1 to 25 years, 20 exhibited peripheral vascular disease, 35 were diagnosed as having collagen disease, 7 showed evidence of vasomotor hyperactivity, and 4 showed abnormal clumping of red blood cells or precipitation of globulin.

As if: the phenomenon of not learning
2014In this paper I discuss a clinical problem presented by those patients who, instead of using analysis as an emotional learning experience, invest all their energies in keeping it in a static condition. Using the material of four patients, I illustrate how they have an underlying state of disintegration which is contained in a precarious enclosure.
