Photodynamic inactivation increases cell death rate on persistent Staphylococcus aureus

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
Persistent bacteria have the ability to survive extended periods of antibiotic stress by entering a metabolically dormant state. This study investigated persistence formation in two S. aureus strains and evaluated the effects of PDI using curcumin. Post‐PDI time‐kill assays conducted after metabolic recovery showed a higher rate of bacterial death ...

Radiosynthesis and in Vivo Evaluation of Two PET Radioligands for Imaging α-Synuclein

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2014
Two α-synuclein ligands, 3-methoxy-7-nitro-10H-phenothiazine (2a, Ki = 32.1 ± 1.3 nM) and 3-(2-fluoroethoxy)-7-nitro-10H-phenothiazine (2b, Ki = 49.0 ± 4.9 nM), were radiolabeled as potential PET imaging agents by respectively introducing 11C and 18F ...

Role of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) and systemic resveratrol on immediate implant placement in type 2 diabetic rats

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
This study evaluated the combined effects of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) and systemic resveratrol on bone repair around immediately placed implants in type 2 diabetic rats. Resveratrol improved glycemic control and body weight, while aPDT increased implant stability and bone mineralization.

Graphite Electrode Modified with a New Phenothiazine Derivative and with Carbon Nanotubes for NADH Electrocatalytic Oxidation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The electrochemical behavior of a modified electrode obtained by immobilization of single-walled carbon nanotubes onto a graphite electrode modified with a new phenothiazine derivative, bis-phenothiazin-3-yl methane (BPhM), G/BPhM-CNT, has been evaluated

Ultrafast charge transfer dynamics in supramolecular Pt(II) donor-bridge-acceptor assemblies: the effect of vibronic coupling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Thanks to major advances in laser technologies, recent investigations of the ultrafast coupling of nuclear and electronic degrees of freedom (vibronic coupling) have revealed that such coupling plays a crucial role in a wide range of photoinduced ...

Root surface biomodification in periodontal therapy: Biological rationale and clinical applications

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Regenerative periodontal therapy aims to form new cementum, periodontal ligament, and alveolar bone, all sealed by gingival tissue. The root surface acts as the wound margin during this regeneration process. Root surface biomodification (root conditioning/root decontamination), therefore, seems instrumental in promoting surface decontamination

Phthalazin-1(2H)-one–picric acid (1/1) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The geometric parameters of the title compound, C8H6N2O·C6H3N3O7, are in the usual ranges. The three nitro groups are almost coplanar with the aromatic picrate ring [dihedral angles 10.2 (2)°, 7.62 (16) and 8.08 (17)°].

Enhancing the Fluorescence of an Aggregation‐Induced Emission‐Active Polymorphic System With Remarkable Mechanochromism for Visualizing Microcracks and Stress Distribution in Textiles

open access: yesAggregate, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
A polymorphic AIE system with mechano‐responsive behaviors is developed and exhibits remarkable mechanochromism, force‐induced emission enhancement, and mechanoluminescence properties, with pressure‐induced emission shifts and enhanced fluorescence.
