Increased yolk lipid mobilization promotes zebrafish post-segmentation growth via an Hnf4-lipoprotein axis

open access: yesCell Reports
Summary: Embryogenesis demands an increasing nutrient supply, yet how maternal reserves are temporally delivered remains unclear. In egg-laying vertebrates, reserves are pre-deposited in the yolk, providing a closed system to dissect this problem.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Development and validation of an integrative 54 biomarker-based risk identification model for multi-cancer in 42,666 individuals: a population-based prospective study to guide advanced screening strategies

open access: yesBiomarker Research
Background Early identification of high-risk individuals is crucial for optimizing cancer screening, particularly when considering expensive and invasive methods such as multi-omics technologies and endoscopic procedures.

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

H2S induces apoptosis of tumors with high IDO1 expression via NR4A1-BCL-2 and SOCS3 pathways

open access: yesCellular & Molecular Biology Letters
Background Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) has been reported to exert both protumor and antitumor functions. It is worthy to clarify the condition under which H2S exerts antitumor effects and its underlying mechanism.

A compact five-gene immuno-fibrotic profile distinguishing systemic sclerosis subtypes with PXDN validated as a fibrosis-associated target

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
IntroductionSystemic sclerosis (SSc) is a heterogeneous autoimmune disease characterized by a paucity of reliable biomarkers for accurate diagnosis and subtype stratification.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.
