dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Phenotypic diversity in natural populations of an endangered plant Tetracentron sinense

open access: yesBotan‪ical Sciences, 2017
Background: Tetracentron sinense, distributed mainly in central and southwest China, is a threatened deciduous broad-leaved canopy tree. Presently, little is known about the phenotypic diversity in natural populations of T.

Genetic studies on variability for quantitative traits in finger millet (Eluesine coracana L. Gaertn)

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Plant Breeding, 2022
In the present investigation, eighteen finger millet genotypes were raised in randomized block design to study about the genetic variability for quantitative traits.

Leveraging population admixture to characterize the heritability of complex traits. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Despite recent progress on estimating the heritability explained by genotyped SNPs (h(2)g), a large gap between h(2)g and estimates of total narrow-sense heritability (h(2)) remains.

Genetic variability of three cassava traits across three locations in Ghana [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A study was conducted to assess the extent of genetic variability, broad-sense heritability and correlations for fresh root weight, root number and top weight of five cassava genotypes across three locations in 2 years.

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Genetic Variability and Correlation for Quantitative Traits of Chickpea Genotypes (Cicer arietinum L.)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Bio-Resource and Stress Management
The present study was conducted using 124 genotypes of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) during rabi, 2019–2020 at Regional Research Station, Faculty of Agriculture, Wadura, Sopore, SKUAST-K to assess the variability, correlation among yield and yield ...

Evolutionary processes and its environmental correlates in the cranial morphology of western chipmunks (Tamias). [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The importance of the environment in shaping phenotypic evolution lies at the core of evolutionary biology. Chipmunks of the genus Tamias (subgenus Neotamias) are part of a very recent radiation, occupying a wide range of environments with marked niche ...

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Life-history variation and age at maturity in Eurasian Perch (Perca fluviatilis L.) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
This thesis deals with life-history variation in perch, with special focus on age at maturity. We conducted field studies to uncover the variation within short geographic distances and a literature review to study variation on a large geographic scale in
