In vivo evidence for glycyl radical insertion into a catalytically inactive variant of pyruvate formate‐lyase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Dimeric pyruvate formate‐lyase cleaves pyruvate using a radical‐based mechanism. G734 serves as a radical storage location, and the radical is transferred to the catalytic C419 residue. Mutation of the C418‐C419 pair causes loss of enzyme activity, but does not impede radical introduction onto G734. Therefore, cis‐ but not trans‐radical transfer occurs

A standardised method for interpreting the association between mutations and phenotypic drug resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis

open access: yesEuropean Respiratory Journal, 2017
A clear understanding of the genetic basis of antibiotic resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis is required to accelerate the development of rapid drug susceptibility testing methods based on genetic sequence.

Evolutionary interplay between viruses and R‐loops

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses interact with specialized nucleic acid structures called R‐loops to influence host transcription, epigenetic states, latency, and immune evasion. This Perspective examines the roles of R‐loops in viral replication, integration, and silencing, and how viruses co‐opt or avoid these structures.

Effect of intra row spacings on estimates of phenotypic and genotypic correlation coefficients in cotton (Gossypium arboreum)

open access: yesThe Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2016
A field experiment was conducted on six Gossypium arboreum genotypes for two successive cropping seasons from 2011-2012 to 2012-2013 at Central Institute for Cotton Research, Regional Station, Sirsa, Haryana, India.

Early‐life patterns of growth are linked to levels of phenotypic trait covariance and postfledging mortality across avian species

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2021
Life history studies have established that trade‐offs between growth and survival are common both within and among species. Identifying the factor(s) that mediate this trade‐off has proven difficult, however, especially at the among‐species level.

Circulating histones as clinical biomarkers in critically ill conditions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circulating histones are emerging as promising biomarkers in critical illness due to their diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic potential. Detection methods such as ELISA and mass spectrometry provide reliable approaches for quantifying histone levels in plasma samples.
