Exploring the Phytochemical Landscape of the Early-Diverging Flowering Plant Amborella trichopoda Baill. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Although the evolutionary significance of the early-diverging flowering plant Amborella (Amborella trichopoda Baill.) is widely recognized, its metabolic landscape, particularly specialized metabolites, is currently underexplored.

Effects of Ingestion of Excess Amounts of Phenylalanine on Phenylalanine Metabolism

open access: yesThe Japanese Journal of Nutrition and Dietetics, 1973
The effects of nutritional and hormonal treatments on the activities of rat liver phenylalanine hydroxylase (Phe H) were studied. When a non-protein diet was substituted for the high protein diet, Phe H activities fell rapidly and remained constant from Day 7, whereas when rats were starved for 10 days, Phe H activities were slightly decreased. In case

Using High‐Throughput Screening to Identify Crosslinking Peptides That Control Cell‐Mediated Matrix Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Protease‐degradable hydrogels mimic dynamic cell‐matrix interactions, but controlling hydrogel degradation is a challenge. We screen libraries of peptides to identify sequences that are primarily degraded by membrane‐localized proteases. Crosslinking hydrogels with these peptides enables cell to spread and migrate while reducing matrix degradation ...

The L-amino acid oxidase of Neurospora [PDF]

open access: yes, 1951
In 1944 one of us described a D-amino acid oxidase in extracts of Neurospora crassa (1). Except for slight activity against L-glutamate, no oxidation of L-amino acids was observed.

Synthesis of d- and l-Phenylalanine Derivatives by Phenylalanine Ammonia Lyases: A Multienzymatic Cascade Process**

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, 2015
The synthesis of substituted d-phenylalanines in high yield and excellent optical purity, starting from inexpensive cinnamic acids, has been achieved with a novel one-pot approach by coupling phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL) amination with a ...

Seeing inside the Body Using Wearable Sensing and Imaging Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores wearable technologies for noninvasive internal health monitoring. It categorizes approaches into indirect sensing (e.g., bioelectrical and biochemical signals) and direct imaging (e.g., wearable ultrasound and EIT), highlighting multimodal integration and system‐level innovation toward personalized, continuous healthcare.

Identification of a plastidial phenylalanine exporter that influences flux distribution through the phenylalanine biosynthetic network

open access: yesNature Communications, 2015
In addition to proteins, L-phenylalanine is a versatile precursor for thousands of plant metabolites. Production of phenylalanine-derived compounds is a complex multi-compartmental process using phenylalanine synthesized predominantly in plastids as ...

State‐of‐the‐Art, Insights, and Perspectives for MOFs‐Nanocomposites and MOF‐Derived (Nano)Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Different approaches to MOF‐NP composite formation, such as ship‐in‐a‐bottle, bottle‐around‐the‐ship and in situ one‐step synthesis, are used. Owing to synergistic effects, the advantageous features of the components of the composites are beneficially combined, and their individual drawbacks are mitigated.
