Stability of phenylephrine hydrochloride injection in polypropylene syringes
American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, 2007The stability of extemporaneously prepared phenylephrine hydrochloride injection stored in polypropylene syringes was studied.Dilution of phenylephrine hydrochloride to a nominal concentration of 100 mug/mL was performed under aseptic conditions by adding 100 mg of phenylephrine hydrochloride (total of 10 mL from two 5-mL 10-mg/mL vials) to 1000 mL of ...

Quantitative Determinations of Phenylephrine and Phenylpropanolamine Hydrochlorides in Combination
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1973Abstract: The quantitative determinations of phenylephrine and phenylpropanolamine hydrochlorides in combination are reported. Phenylephrine hydrochloride is assayed using the Koshy-Mitchner method without interference from phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride.

Degradation of Phenylephrine Hydrochloride in Tablet Formulations Containing Aspirin
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1964The breakdown of aspirin in tablet formulations containing phenylephrine was found to result in a concurrent loss of phenylephrine activity. Specific functional group analysis of the secondary amine function on phenylephrine was necessary to follow degradation in tablet formulations. Analyses with methods based on the phenolic function of phenylephrine

Allergic Contact Reactions due to Phenylephrine Hydrochloride in Eyedrops
Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, 1997Dermatitis of and around the eye is common. Allergic contact reactions from phenylephrine are rare despite extensive use by ophthalmologists. Previous reports do not indicate crossreactivity between phenylephrine and other sympathomimetic drugs in patch testing. We report three cases of allergic contact reactions (dermato-conjunctivitis) after eyedrops.
