Spatial and vertical distribution of redox‐sensitive elements and their controlling factors in deep soils under contrasting land cover in the Gulf Coastal Plains

open access: yesVadose Zone Journal, Volume 25, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
Abstract Redox processes in soil governs key biogeochemical cycles and influence carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus dynamics. However, their role in deep vadose zone soils remains poorly understood, particularly in variably saturated environments with heterogeneous hydroclimatic, landscape position, and land use conditions.

Carbon‐Rich SiOC Aerogels and Aerogel–Foam Composites: Electromagnetic Interference Shielding and Thermal Insulation

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Carbon‐rich SiOC aerogels and foam composites were produced using a solvothermal method. After ambient drying and pyrolysis at varied temperatures (1000°C–1400°C), porous SiOC structures formed with tunable microstructure and carbon content (between 57% and 71%).

Cytochrome P450 1a (CYP1A)‐Knockout Javanese Medaka Fish Exhibit Diabetic Traits and Reduced Reproductive Capacity

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 12, 30 June 2026.
Analyses of cytochrome P450 1a (CYP1A)‐knockout (KO) Javanese medaka (Oryzias javanicus) revealed that CYP1A is involved in glucose regulation and reproduction. In the KO fish, significant increases in hepatic transcripts of insulin, glucagon, and somatostatin genes, as well as elevated blood glucose, liver mass, and liver triglyceride levels ...
