Cryopreservation of Somatic Embryoids of Phoenix dactylifera

1997
Late globular/early torpedo stage date palm embryoids can continue normal growth and development after cryopreservation provided they are pre—treated with a cryoprotectant mixture of glycerol and sucrose and then dried to water contents in the range of 0.4–0.7g.g-1. The embryoids were frozen by direct immersion in liquid nitrogen.

Micropropagation of Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.)

1992
The date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) (2n = 36) is a member of the monocot family Arecaceae, which includes about 225 genera and 2600 species (Corner 1966). Successful genetic transformation in date palm (Phoenix dactylifera)

2013
The introduction of foreign genes into most of the Phoenix spp using recombinant DNA technology is not a straight forward task. In Phoenix spp application of this technology towards successful transformation proved to be a more difficult one – so far no report on the successful regeneration of transgenic date palm plants has been published.
