Ceramic Particle‐Reinforced Medium‐Entropy Alloys With Outstanding Mechanical Properties Prepared by Novel Micro‐LPBF

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative medium entropy alloy (MEA) composite material was fabricated via micro laser powder bed fusion (μ‐LPBF) with appropriate nano‐ceramic particles doping and exhibited markedly improved overall performance, including synergistically enhanced strength and ductility, increased hardness and compressive strength, improved wear resistance and ...

Lithium Intercalation in the Anisotropic Van Der Waals Semiconductor CrSBr

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report the lithium intercalation in the layered van der Waals crystal CrSBr, revealing strongly anisotropic ion‐migration dynamics. Optical and electrical characterization of exfoliated CrSBr shows lithium diffusion coefficients that differ by more than an order of magnitude along a‐ and b‐directions, consistent with molecular dynamics simulations ...

A possible mechanism for superconductivity in doped SrTiO3

open access: yes, 2019
The soft ferro-electric phonon in SrTiO3 observed with optical spectroscopy has an extraordinary strong spectral weight which is much stronger than expected in the limit of a perfectly ionic compound. The "charged phonon" in SrTiO3 is caused by the close-

Shaping Ti3C2 MXene Nanospheres for Precision Near‐Infrared Photothermal Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we report producing spherical MXenes via fs laser fragmentation of Ti3C2 flakes in liquid medium. The nanoparticles demonstrated pronounced light absorption and high photothermal conversion efficiencies of 68% and 63% under heating with NIR‐I and NIR‐II lasers, respectively.

Renormalized spectrum of quasiparticle in limited number of states, strongly interacting with two-mode polarization phonons at T=0 K

open access: yesCondensed Matter Physics, 2021
Within unitary transformed Hamiltonian of Fröhlich type, using the Green's functions method, exact renormalized energy spectrum of quasiparticle strongly interacting with two-mode polarization phonons is obtained at T=0 K in a model of the system with ...

Valley contrasting chiral phonons in monolayer hexagonal lattices

open access: yes, 2015
In monolayer hexagonal lattices, two inequivalent valleys appear in the Brillouin zone. With inversion symmetry breaking, we find chiral phonons with valley contrasting circular polarization and ionic magnetic moment.

Domain Wall Rebounds Driven by Competing Entropic and Spin‐Transfer Torques in Cylindrical Nanowires

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Domain‐wall motion in cylindrical magnetic nanowires driven by nanosecond current pulses. Low current densities efficiently displace domain walls, whereas higher currents cause rebound at the wire ends. The effect results from the interplay between spin‐transfer torque and thermally induced processes, highlighting the role of thermal gradients in ...

Spin-phonon coupling and pressure effect in the superconductor LiFeAs : Lattice dynamics from first-principles calculations

open access: yes, 2010
The lattice dynamics and the effect of pressure on superconducting LiFeAs in both nonmagnetic (NM) and striped antiferromagnetic (SAF) phases are investigated using the plane-wave pseudopotential, density-functional-based method.
