Interacti on of buprenorphine with phosphatidylcholine
Thermochimica Acta, 1989The interaction between phosphatidylcholine and buprenorphine have been studied by means of differential scanning calorimetry of liposome, compression isotherms and penetration kinetics of monolayers. The results show that the interactions are highly dependent on the ionized state of the buprenorphine molecules, being higher in buffered solutions.

The following phosphatidylethanolamines were studied by differential scanning calorimetry: 1,2-dipalmitoleoyl-, 1,2-dioleoyl-, 1,2-dilauroyl-, 1,2-dielaidyl-, 1,2-dimyristoyl- and 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoryl-ethanolamine. The saturated and trans-unsaturated species underwent thermotropic phase transitions at temperatures about 20-30 degrees

Phosphatidylcholine and cell death
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular and Cell Biology of Lipids, 2002Phosphatidylcholine (PC) constitutes a major portion of cellular phospholipids and displays unique molecular species in different cell types and tissues. Inhibition of the CDP-choline pathway in most mammalian cells or overexpression of the hepatic phosphatidylethanolamine methylation pathway in hepatocytes leads to perturbation of PC homeostasis ...

Biosynthesis of phosphatidylcholine in bacteria
Progress in Lipid Research, 2003Phosphatidylcholine (PC) is the major membrane-forming phospholipid in eukaryotes and can be synthesized by either of two pathways, the methylation pathway or the CDP-choline pathway. Many prokaryotes lack PC, but it can be found in significant amounts in membranes of rather diverse bacteria and based on genomic data, we estimate that more than 10% of ...

Autoxidation of phosphatidylcholine liposomes
Lipids, 1982AbstractAutoxidation of pure soybean phosphatidylcholine liposomes at 40 C was found to proceed without an observed induction period, but otherwise, the rates of disappearance of the linoleic acid (70% of total) and linolenic acid (6% of total) followed typical autocatalytic kinetics.

Bovine liver phosphatidylcholine transfer protein (PC-TP) has been expressed in Escherichia coli and purified to homogeneity from the cytosol fraction at a yield of 0.45 mg PC-TP per 10 mg total cytosolic protein. In addition, active PC-TP was obtained from inclusion bodies.

The solubility of the three steroid hormones, progesterone, testosterone, and estradiol-17 beta in water and phosphatidylcholine vesicles was measured after shaking and ultrasonication. All three steroids have low water solubility, which increases considerably at sonication for testosterone and estradiol-17 beta. The phosphatidylcholine vesicles have a

Dipalmitoyl phosphatidylcholine (DPPC) and egg phosphatidylcholine (egg PC) are not completely miscible at all temperatures. Their phase diagram was determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) of aqueous mixtures of the two. From the integrated DSC curves we obtained the enthalpy of solution of DPPC in egg PC, Δhs, as a function of the mole ...

The structures of bile phosphatidylcholines
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Lipids and Lipid Metabolism, 1973Abstract Phosphatidylcholines from the bile of pigs, sheep and cows were isolated and the fatty acid composition of each determined. Linoleic acid was the principal poly-unsaturated fatty acid of pig bile phosphatidylcholine but that from the ruminants contained appreciable amounts of 9-cis, 11-trans-octadecadienoic acid, 9-cis, 11 -trans, 15-cis ...
