An efficient synthesis of phosphatidylcholines.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1990
This article deals with two of the major steps involved in phospholipid synthesis: the preparation of the optically pure precursors, sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (GPC) and -ethanolamine, from a convenient lipid source such as egg yolk, and acylation of ...

Replacement of Dietary Fishmeal with Clostridium autoethanogenum Protein on Lipidomics and Lipid Metabolism in Muscle of Pearl Gentian Grouper

open access: yesAquaculture Nutrition, 2023
Clostridium autoethanogenum protein (CAP) is an economical and alternative protein source. Here, three experimental diets were formulated with CAP replacing 0% (CAP-0), 30% (CAP-30), and 60% (CAP-60) of fishmeal to investigate the alterations of ...

Inhibition of Calcium‐Dependent Lipid Droplets Relocation of ACSL4‐PKCβ‐ALOX15 Complex Alleviates Ferroptosis and Acute Pancreatitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies L‐type calcium channel blockers as novel ferroptosis inhibitors. It reveals that PKCβ, activated in calcium dependent manner, phosphorylates and activates ACSL4 and ALOX15, relocating them to lipid droplets to promote lethal lipid peroxidation and ferroptosis.

From Covalent Traps to Fluorescent Beacons: The Expanding Arsenal of Chemical Probes for Studying Ubiquitin and Ubiquitin‐Like Proteins

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A large variety of chemistry‐based ubiquitin probes have been developed. ABSTRACT Ubiquitin (Ub) and ubiquitin‐like proteins (Ubls) orchestrate diverse cellular processes through reversible post‐translational modification of target proteins. Their conjugation is governed by a cascade of E1 activating, E2 conjugating, and E3 ligating enzymes, while ...

ALOX15-launched PUFA-phospholipids peroxidation increases the susceptibility of ferroptosis in ischemia-induced myocardial damage

open access: yesSignal Transduction and Targeted Therapy, 2022
Myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury is a classic type of cardiovascular disease characterized by injury to cardiomyocytes leading to various forms of cell death.

Quantification and Localisation of New Brain Lipid Synthesis Using Deuterium Oxide and High Resolution Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry and mass spectrometry imaging were used in combination with deuterium oxide administration to quantify and localise newly synthesised myelin lipids in the mouse brain. This methodology, used here to show sites of myelin repair, enables the measurement of dynamic lipid synthesis in living systems and ...

Genetic causality of lipidomic and immune cell profiles in ischemic stroke

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology
BackgroundIschemic stroke (IS) is a global health issue linked to lipid metabolism and immune cell responses. This study uses Mendelian randomization (MR) to identify genetic risk factors for IS subtypes using comprehensive genetic data from lipidomic ...

Comparative Metabolomic and Lipidomic Analysis of Phenotype Stratified Prostate Cells. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most prevalent cancer amongst men and the second most common cause of cancer related-deaths in the USA. Prostate cancer is a heterogeneous disease ranging from indolent asymptomatic cases to very aggressive life threatening ...

Islet Amyloid Polypeptide Modelled to Simulate Diabetes Co‐Oligomerized with β‐Amyloid 1‐42 Reproducing the Pathological Cascade of Alzheimer's Disease in Human Cerebral Organoids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Human islet amyloid polypeptide (hIAPP) was used to mimic T2DM, and Aβ42‐hIAPP co‐oligomers were delivered into the human mature cerebral organoids (COs), which reproduce typical AD pathology and significant neuronal death more closely resembling that of AD patients.
