Loss of STARD7 Triggers Metabolic Reprogramming and Cell Cycle Arrest in Breast Cancer
Breast cancer cells undergo metabolic and transcriptomic reprogramming to support aberrant cell proliferation. Their mitochondria rely on the transfer of phosphatidylcholine from the endoplasmic reticulum to their membranes by STARD7, a candidate upregulated in breast cancer, to be functional.

Multi‐Omics and ‐Organ Insights into Energy Metabolic Adaptations in Early Sepsis Onset
This study shows that patients at risk of sepsis have a distinct metabolite and lipid signature, including serine and aminoadipic acid, in their serum before clinical diagnosis. A mouse model of sepsis with a compatible serum signature reveals underlying metabolic changes, including mitochondrial adaptation, altered serine‐dependent purine metabolism ...

Identification of biosynthetic precursors for the endocannabinoid anandamide in the rat brain
Anandamide is an endogenous signaling lipid that binds to and activates cannabinoid receptors in the brain and peripheral tissues. The endogenous precursors of anandamide, N-arachidonoyl phosphatidylethanolamines (NArPEs), are a family of complex ...

Comparative Metabolomic and Lipidomic Analysis of Phenotype Stratified Prostate Cells. [PDF]
Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most prevalent cancer amongst men and the second most common cause of cancer related-deaths in the USA. Prostate cancer is a heterogeneous disease ranging from indolent asymptomatic cases to very aggressive life threatening ...

Iron‐induced lipid peroxidation of phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) species is the key driver of ferroptosis. The authors discovered that PHOSPHO1 lowers the level of PE in retinal pigment epithelial cells thus reducing the formation of lipid peroxides. Lowering PE levels can also prevent the creation of autolysosomes, reduce the production of free iron ...

Longitudinal Metabolomics in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Implicates Impaired Lipid Metabolism
Objective Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal neurodegenerative disease characterized by altered metabolome and energy homeostasis, manifesting with body mass index changes and hypermetabolism—both prognostic of disease progression and survival.
