Computational Study on the Reaction Mechanism of 5‐Enolpyruvylshikimate‐3‐phosphate Synthase from Nicotiana Tabacum

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
The reaction mechanism of 5‐enolpyruvylshikimate‐3‐phosphate synthase from Nicotiana tabacum (NtEPSPS) is elucidated using quantum chemical calculations. The proposed mechanism involves four sequential steps: carbocation intermediate formation, tetrahedral intermediate formation, rate‐limiting C−O bond cleavage, and C=C bond re‐formation.

High energy-charged cell factory for heterologous protein synthesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Overexpression of gluconeogenic phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PCK) under glycolytic conditions enables Escherichia coli to maintain a greater intracellular ATP concentration and, consequently, to up-regulate genes for amino acid and nucleotide ...

The Role of Tyrosine 207 in the Reaction Catalyzed by Saccharomyces cerevisiae phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase

open access: yesBiological Research, 2010
The functional signifcance of tyrosine 207 of Saccharomyces cerevisiae phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase was explored by examining the kinetic properties of the Tyr207Leu mutant. The variant enzyme retained the structural characteristics of the wild-type

Insights Into the Conformational Dynamics of the Cytoplasmic Domain of Metal‐Sensing Sensor Histidine Kinase ZraS

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT ZraS is a metal sensor integral to ZraPSR, a two‐component signaling system found in enterobacters. It belongs to a family of bifunctional sensor histidine kinases (SHKs) and is speculated to sense zinc‐induced stress on the bacterial envelope.

Phenotypic landscape inference reveals multiple evolutionary paths to C$_4$ photosynthesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
C$_4$ photosynthesis has independently evolved from the ancestral C$_3$ pathway in at least 60 plant lineages, but, as with other complex traits, how it evolved is unclear.

What Is the Metabolic Role of Phosphoenolpyruvate Carboxykinase?*

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2009
The enzyme phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (GTP; EC 4.1.1.32) (PEPCK)2 has the unusual distinction of being very well studied but metabolically misunderstood.

Hyperspectral Raman imaging to understand patterns in dried biofluids in Alzheimer's disease

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Raman spectroscopy is commonly used to identify biomarkers in biological fluids, often focusing on the outer ring of dried droplets due to molecular accumulation from the coffee ring effect. However, this approach may overlook important spectral information, so hyperspectral Raman mapping is used to analyze the entire droplet and identify optimal ...

Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase in cherry (Prunus avium L.) fruit during development.

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Botany, 2011
In this study the abundance and location of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK) was determined in the flesh and skin of the sweet cherry (Prunus avium L.) cultivar Durone Nero II during development. PEPCK was not present in young fruit but appeared

Differential gene expression in Chorthippus parallelus (Zetterstedt, 1821) (Orthoptera: Acrididae: Gomphocerinae) induced by Wolbachia infection

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Distinct lineages of the grasshopper Chorthippus parallelus (Orthoptera: Acrididae) form a well‐known hybrid zone (HZ) in the Pyrenees mountain range; the Iberian endemism C. p. erythropus (Cpe) and the subspecies C. p. parallelus, (Cpp) widely distributed throughout the rest of Europe. Both subspecies differ in diverse traits, including the strains of

Longevity Humans Have Youthful Erythrocyte Function and Metabolic Signatures

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 24, Issue 5, May 2025.
Longevity humans have “a youthful erythrocyte function and metabolism” with a youth‐like oxygen release and anti‐oxidative capability to combat tissue hypoxia and improve healthspan. ABSTRACT Longevity individuals have lower susceptibility to chronic hypoxia, inflammation, oxidative stress, and aging‐related diseases.
