This review highlights the powerful synergy between mechanochemistry and solid reagents to replace hazardous substances traditionally used in organic synthesis. Such an approach offers a safer and more sustainable pathway for conducting organic reactions, with potential benefits in both reactivity and selectivity. The use of solid bases, acids, and gas

The Challenging P‐Alkylation of Aromatic Phosphorus Heterocycles and Follow‐Up Reactions
P‐alkylation of λ3σ2‐phosphinines is hindered by weak nucleophilicity and scarce synthetic access, previously requiring multistep routes or extreme electrophiles. A direct ambient‐condition method is reported using 3,5‐bis(trimethylsilyl)‐phosphinine/B(C6F5)3 with esters or iso(thio)cyanates to generate stable 1‐R‐phosphininium salts.

Photo- and solvatochromic properties of nitrobenzospiropyran in ionic liquids containing the [NTf2]- anion [PDF]
The photo-, thermo- and solvatochromic properties of 2,3-dihydro-10,30,30-trimethyl-6-nitrospiro- [1-benzopyran-2,20-1H-indole] (BSP-NO2) were studied in ILs containing the anion [NTf2]- by UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy, ab initio molecular orbital ...

The synthesis of 2‐methyl propellane and its conversion to various 1,2‐ and 1,2,3‐di‐ and trisubstituted bicyclopentanes is reported. Abstract Bicyclo[1.1.1]pentanes (BCPs) have emerged as isosteric replacements for mono‐ and para‐substituted benzene rings in medicinal and materials applications, involving substitution at the BCP bridgehead (1,3 ...

Radical-Mediated Anti-Markovnikov Hydrophosphonation of Olefins [PDF]
The radical-mediated addition of triphenylphosphonium tetrafluoroborate to olefins (hydrophosphonation) is reported. Both standard radical initiators and photochemical conditions are effective, up to the gram scale.

The role of onium salts in the oxidation of hydrocarbons by O2 catalysed by cationic phase-transfer reagents [PDF]
Experimental and theoretical evidence is presented that cationic phase-transfer catalysts promote the homolytic decomposition of hydroperoxide initiators into radicals, this being a fundamental step in the catalysis of the oxidation of hydrocarbons by O ...

ABSTRACT Over the past twenty years, main group chemistry has significantly expanded its scope to include reactivities once considered the exclusive domain of transition metals. Among the emerging concepts, element‐ligand cooperation has proven to be a powerful strategy for enabling bond activation reactions but remains relatively unexplored for ...

Rigid Ligand Environments at Beryllium, From Spectroscopic Probes to Small Molecule Activation
Due to the high rigidity and definition of beryllium scorpionate complexes, they can be used to study metal‐pseudohalide and ‐carbon bonds in detail. Furthermore, these compounds can be used to activate small molecules and exhibit unprecedented transmetalation reactions. In beryllium scorpionate complexes, three of the four available coordination sites
