Release of choline by phospholipase D and a related phosphoric diester hydrolase in human erythrocytes. 1H spin-echo n.m.r. studies [PDF]
A previously detected phosphatidylcholine-specific phospholipase D from lysates of human red blood cells has been further characterized by 1H spin-echo n.m.r. spectroscopy. A second choline-releasing enzymic activity was observed after addition of glycerophosphocholine.

Changes in total phospholipids and activities of two phosphoric diester hydrolases,i.e. phospholipase C and phospholipase D have been studied in inoculated wheat leaves of 25-day old plants, interacting differentially with three races of brown rust,Puccinia recondita, during early stages of pathogenesis.

Identifcation of small molecule enzyme inhibitors as broad-spectrum anthelmintics [PDF]
Targeting chokepoint enzymes in metabolic pathways has led to new drugs for cancers, autoimmune disorders and infectious diseases. This is also a cornerstone approach for discovery and development of anthelmintics against nematode and flatworm parasites.

Complementary Sources of Protein Functional Information: The Far Side of GO. [PDF]
The GO captures many aspects of functional annotations, but there are other alternative complementary sources of protein function information. For example, enzyme functional annotations are described in a range of resources from the Enzyme Commission (E ...

Metal Fluorides as Analogs for Studies on Phosphoryl Transfer Enzymes [PDF]
The 1994 structure of a transition state analog with AlF4- and GDP complexed to G1, a small G protein, heralded a new field of research into structure and mechanism of enzymes that manipulate transfer of the phosphoryl (PO3-) group.

Rapid purification of human lysosomal membranes, characterisation of the detergent resistent microdomains, purification and reconstitution of the vacuolar proton pump (V-ATPase) [PDF]
The lysosomal membrane is a dynamic environment where specific interactions among proteins and between proteins and lipids occur. These interactions are necessary for the proper functioning of the lysosomal apparatus that allows the passage of molecules ...
