Ultralow-frequency collective compression mode and strong interlayer coupling in multilayer black phosphorus

open access: yes, 2015
The recent renaissance of black phosphorus (BP) as a two-dimensional 2D layered material has generated tremendous interest in its tunable electronic band gap and highly anisotropic transport properties that offer new opportunities for device applications.

Phosphorus determination in phosphoglycerides from thin-layer chromatograms

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1969
Phosphoglyceride phosphorus is readily determined directly on silica gel removed from thin-layer chromatograms, without elution, by a nondigestive procedure with a sulfuric-periodic acid reagent.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

The microtitration of total fatty acids of serum, with notes on the estimation of triglycerides

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1959
A method is described for the determination of total fatty acids of serum by microtitration. The method is designed to permit also the determination of cholesterol and lipid phosphorus, and of triglycerides by difference. One ml.

Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.

Combustive approach for measuring total volatile phosphorus content in landfill gas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A technique was developed to measure the total gaseous phosphorus content in biogas. The amount of air needed for a neutral to oxidising flame was mixed with the biogas.

Effect of arsenic-phosphorus interaction on arsenic-induced oxidative stress in chickpea plants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Arsenic-induced oxidative stress in chickpea was investigated under glasshouse conditions in response to application of arsenic and phosphorus. Three levels of arsenic (0, 30 and 60 mg kg−1) and four levels of P (50, 100, 200, and 400 mg kg−1) were ...

Population of Nonmetallic Inclusions in Liquid High‐Silicon Electrical Steel in Contact With MgO–C Refractories Based on Recyclates and Environmentally Friendly Binders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The formation of nonmetallic inclusions (NMIs) was investigated in this study, carrying out immersion tests for 30 min at a temperature of 1600°C with liquid high‐silicon electrical steel (Si ≈ 3 mass‐%) and different MgO–C refractories. Conventional MgO–C refractories were considered, as well as MgO–C refractories containing MgO–C recyclate and ...

The Quantitative Estimate of Bioavailable Inorganic Phosphorus Content in Forest Soils by the Modification of the Anion-Exchange Resin Method

open access: yesSoil and Water Research, 2006
The anion-exchange resin (AER) method for the estimation of bioavailable phosphorus was slightly optimised for soils with high contents of readily soluble organic compounds as well as for those having very different clay and sand contents.
