AbstractManagement of phosphorus (P) inputs to agroecosystems is often evaluated by phosphorus use efficiency (PUE), but different calculation approaches may yield discrepancies in estimated PUE values. We evaluated PUE (i) indirectly calculated by difference in crop P uptake between a P‐fertilized versus a P‐unfertilized control (PUEdiff) and (ii ...

ABSTRACT Nutrient loading, aquatic invasive species, and climate warming have altered food web dynamics in the Great Lakes. Long‐term data are required to characterise the response of the lower food web to multiple environmental drivers and develop trophic indicators for future research and management efforts.

A new ethoxyethanol derivative of iminofullerene, F2, is synthesized and labeled with 99mTc to produce 99mTc‐F2. In vitro, compound F2 inhibits the activation of primary mouse bone marrow‐derived macrophages stimulated with lipopolysaccharide. Moreover, 99mTc‐F2 is selectively enriched in the injured joints of mice. Inflammatory macrophages play a role

Abstract We report hydrographic and biogeochemical measurements from a meridional transect performed along 150°W, 30°S to 60°S in the Southern Ocean, plus Polar waters to the east. Both of these areas are sites of annual high‐reflectance features in ocean color remote sensing, which were heretofore never confirmed with in situ measurements.

Soil isotopically exchangeable phosphorus : a comparison between E and L values [PDF]
This study was designed to explain the apparent discrepancies often reported in the literature between E and L values, two parameters obtained from isotopic exchange experiments and commonly used to quantify available soil phosphate.

Clouds, airplanes, trucks and people: carrying radioisotopes to and across Mexico [PDF]
The aim of this paper is to describe the early stages of Mexican nuclearization that took place in contact with radioisotopes. This history requires a multilayered narrative with an emphasis in North-South asymmetric relations, and in the value of ...

Continued investigation of kinetic aspects of bone mineral metabolism [PDF]
The total body calcium in humans was determined by measuring expired Ar-37 after neutron irradiation. The excretion of Ar-37 from humans was found to be much slower than the excretion from rats and dogs, and to be related to the age of a person.
