Photoaging.

open access: yesCollegium antropologicum, 2008
Among harmful environmental factors that contribute to extrinsic aging, long-term effects of repeated exposure to ultraviolet light are the most significant and are referred to as photoaging. Photoaging is a multisystem degenerative process that involves the skin and skin support system. It is a cumulative process and depends primarily on the degree of

Alleviation of photoaging‐associated MMP upregulation, prostanoid biosynthesis, and cell cycle arrest with titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, and inorganic‐only ( ZnO  +  TiO 2 ) sunscreens [PDF]

open access: hybridPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
Inorganic sunscreens containing the UV filters titanium dioxide (TiO2) and/or zinc oxide (ZnO) alleviated various biomarkers of photoaging in human dermal fibroblasts, at a gene and protein level. The study provides novel insights that observe the impact of inorganic photoprotection through the molecular biology of skin.

Multi-Omics Analysis Reveals Photodynamic Therapy Ameliorating Skin Photoaging by Improving Cellular Senescence Through Mitohormesis-Mediated Reduction of Citrate Content. [PDF]

open access: yesAging Cell
Ultraviolet‐induced skin photoaging involves cellular senescence. Low‐dose photodynamic therapy (PDT) counteracts this by triggering mitochondrial ROS and mitohormesis, which improve metabolism and ameliorate senescence, leading to reduced wrinkles and enhanced skin barrier.

Anti-Photoaging Effect of Plant Extract Fermented with Lactobacillus buchneri on CCD-986sk Fibroblasts and HaCaT Keratinocytes

open access: yesJournal of Functional Biomaterials, 2020
Ultraviolet (UV) exposure triggers the abnormal production of reactive oxygen (ROS) species and the expression of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) that are responsible for photoaging.

Assessment of Subepidermal Low-Echogenic Band via High-Frequency Ultrasound for Evaluating the Efficacy of Platelet-Rich Plasma Injection in Treating Facial Skin Photoaging: A Case Series. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Cosmet Dermatol
ABSTRACT Background Facial skin photoaging manifests as wrinkles, laxity, roughness, enlarged pores, telangiectasia, pigmentation, and dermal structural changes. Histologically, dermal collagen degradation and dermal‐epidermal junction disruption form the subepidermal low‐echogenic band (SLEB) on ultrasound.

Targeting Melasma: Innovations in Pigment Deposition and Photoaging in Cosmetic Dermatology. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Cosmet Dermatol
ABSTRACT Background Melasma is a chronic, relapsing hyperpigmentation disorder driven by complex interactions among genetic predisposition, hormonal fluctuations, UV exposure, oxidative stress, inflammation, and photoaging. Its psychosocial impact is substantial, especially among women with darker skin types, and treatment remains challenging due to ...

Sunscreens - Which and what for? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
It is well established that sun exposure is the main cause for the development of skin cancer. Chronic continuous UV radiation is believed to induce malignant melanoma, whereas intermittent high-dose UV exposure contributes to the occurrence of actinic ...

Labisia pumila extract protects skin cells from photoaging caused by UVB irradiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Labisia pumila (Myrsinaceae), known as "Kacip Fatimah," has been used by many generations of Malay women to induce and facilitate child birth as well as a post partum medicine. However, its topical application on skin has not been reported yet.

Therapeutic effect of concentrated growth factor preparation on skin photoaging in a mouse model

open access: yesJournal of International Medical Research, 2020
Objective To establish a nude mouse model of photoaging and study the therapeutic effect of a concentrated growth factor preparation (CGF) on skin photoaging. Methods CGF was prepared from blood from Sprague–Dawley rats.
