Photoallergy to Naproxen. [PDF]
Reactions caused by photosensitivity, also called photodermatosis, are cutaneous reactions induced or exacerbated by exposure to electromagnetic radiation, including UV radiation, visible light, and infrared radiation. We present the case of a 41-year-old man with no personal history of allergy and who is referred to our Drug Allergy Unit for study. We

Anticancer treatments and photosensitivity. [PDF]
Abstract Drug‐induced photosensitivity is associated with a wide range of anticancer treatments, including conventional chemotherapeutic agents, targeted anticancer therapies, and immune checkpoint inhibitors. These dermatologic adverse events can have a major impact on the well‐being and quality of life of cancer patients, leading to dose ...

The Nature of Tribromosalicylanilide Photoallergy [PDF]
Three patients with photoallergy to 3,4',5 tribromosalicylanilide (TBS) following the use of a germicidal soap were studies to determine the mechanism of their photoallergy. None of these subjects had undergone previous patch or photopatch testing. Duplicate patches of purified TBS and its photoproducts 4', 5 dibromosalicylanilide (DBS).

Probing skin photoallergens in reconstructed human epidermis: An EPR spin trapping investigation. [PDF]
We present an original proof‐of‐concept methodology to probe radical generation from allergens in contact with photoexposed skin, using electron paramagnetic resonance and spin trapping in a reconstructed human epidermis model mimicking real‐life exposure scenarios.

Long-Term Observations on the European Photopatch Test Baseline Series (EPTBS) in Real Clinical Practice: 11 Years of Results in a Spanish Cohort and Suggestions for an EPTBS Update. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Background The European Photopatch Testing Baseline Series (EPTBS) was published in 2013. However, limited data exist regarding the real‐world clinical application of the EPTBS. Objectives This study aims to describe the photopatch test experience with the EPTBS over 11 years at a tertiary hospital in Spain.

Intra-Articular Laser Therapy May Be a Feasible Option in Treating Knee Osteoarthritis in Elderly Patients. [PDF]
Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a common problem in elderly patients. They are often troubled with altered knee function, such as pain and weakness. However, not all these patients are able to receive autologous platelet‐rich plasma (PRP) injections as they may be taking antiplatelet or anticoagulant medications. Their physical condition may not allow them

Pterin-lysine photoadduct: a potential candidate for photoallergy [PDF]
AbstractPhotoallergy is a photosensitivity disorder associated with a modified ability of the skin to react to the combined effect of drugs and sunlight. It has been attributed to the covalent conjugation of proteins with a photosensitizer, yielding modified macromolecules that can act as antigen provoking the immune system response. The potential role

SummaryMany – topically applied or systemically administered – substances may trigger photoallergic skin reactions following exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. While most cases represent photoallergic contact dermatitis due to topically applied agents, systemically triggered photoallergy is considerably less common.
