Photobacterium damsela Necrotizing Fasciitis of the Arm
The Journal of Hand Surgery, 2022Photobacterium damsela is a gram-negative bacterium that is known to cause infection, most commonly in marine animals and rarely in humans. Photobacterium damsela typically results in skin and soft tissue infections in humans and has been associated with necrotizing fasciitis in several case reports.

Statistical Optimization of Bioluminescence of Photobacterium posphoreum KCTC2852.
Journal of Bioscience and Bioengineering, 2001In this study, media optimization by statistically designed experiments stimulated an increase in the intensity and stability of bioluminescence of Photobacterium phosphoreum KCTC 2852 during continuous cultivation. The Plackett-Burman design method selected two components (NaCl, yeast extract) among nine components of the seawater complete (SC) medium.

Physical characterization of lumazine proteins from Photobacterium
Biochemistry, 1985The physicochemical properties of Photobacterium lumazine proteins have been investigated. The molecular weights obtained by several physical techniques are in good agreement, and the averages are 2% and 8% higher than the minimum molecular weights from amino acid and ligand content.

The acute toxicities of five naphthoquinone compounds to Photobacterium phosphoreum were determined. We evaluated the mechanism of toxicity using the structure-activity relationship technique. The results showed that some factors, including the species of substituents, shape/size of molecule and oil-water partition coefficient (log P) played the ...

The properties of lumazine proteins purified from the marine bioluminescent bacteria Photobacterium phosphoreum, a psychrophile, and Photobacterium leiognathi, a relatively thermophilic species, are compared. An accurate 1:1 stoichiometry of binding of the ligand 6,7-dimethyl-8-ribityllumazine to each lumazine protein is established by back-titration ...

A sediment-contact bioassay with Photobacterium phosphoreum
Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, 1990Abstract A new, rapid test is reported for the toxicity screening of sediments using inhibition of Photobacterium phosphoreum. The bacteria are placed in direct contact with the sediment and the change in luminescence of the Photobacterium is used to determine the toxicity of the sediment relative to a control site. This sediment-contact

Continuous pollution monitoring using Photobacterium phosphoreum
Resources, Conservation and Recycling, 1996Abstract Photobacterium phosphoreum is a marine bacterium which is used extensively as a bioluminescent indicator of pollutants, where the presence of toxicants diminishes light output. To evaluate the utility of cell immobilisation in continuous toxicity testing, the sensitivity of P.

Photobacterium phosphoreum Toxicity Data Index
Water Quality Research Journal, 1991Abstract This toxicity data index gives a compilation of some 1350 acute toxicity data of individual organic compounds for the luminescent marine bacterium Photobacterium phosphoreum, commonly known as Microtox™ test. The index contains 5-min, 15-min and 30-min toxicity data in both logarithmic (log (L/mmol) and non-logarithmic (mg/L ...

Structure and properties of luciferase from Photobacterium phosphoreum
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1991The nucleotide sequences of the luxA and luxB genes coding for the alpha and beta subunits, respectively, of luciferase from Photobacterium phosphoreum have been determined. The predicted amino acid sequences of the alpha and beta subunits were shown to be significantly different from other bacterial luciferases with 62 to 88% identity with the alpha ...

The carboxyl activation of glycine in extracts of photobacterium fischeri
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, 1958Abstract A glycine-activating enzyme, as measured by hydroxamic acid formation, has been purified 17-fold from extracts of Photobacterium fischeri. The enzyme catalyzes a reaction between ATP, glycine, and hydroxylamine, involving the carboxyl activation of glycine, as revealed by the formation of glycylhydroxamate, ADP, and Pi. Data illustrating the
