Efficacy and Safety of Small Molecule Inhibitor Therapies for Vitiligo: A Systematic Review

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims The latest advances in the treatment of vitiligo involve the introduction of Janus kinase inhibitors (JAKI) and small molecule inhibitors (SMI). These modern treatment modalities target specific inflammatory pathways that can improve outcomes for vitiligo in adults, adolescents, and children.

Photochemotherapy Induces Interferon Type III Expression via STING Pathway

open access: yes, 2020
DNA-damaging cancer therapies induce interferon expression and stimulate the immune system, promoting therapy responses. The immune-activating STING (Stimulator of Interferon Genes) pathway is induced when DNA or double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) is detected ...

Photochemotherapy for alopecia areata

open access: yesActa Dermato-Venereologica, 1980
Ten patients with alopecia areata (plaque type and totalis type) were treated with oral photochemotherapy. Successful results were obtained in 7 cases. No side effects were noted. Hair growth was related to the energy delivered and was not dependent on the duration of the disease. No relapses occurred after discontinuation of the treatment.

Long-Term Outcome of Photodynamic Therapy with Systemic Chemotherapy Compared to Photodynamic Therapy Alone in Patients with Advanced Hilar Cholangiocarcinoma

open access: yesGut and Liver, 2014
Background/AimsPatients with cholangiocarcinoma usually present at an advanced stage, and more than 50% of cases are not resectable at the time of diagnosis. Recently, photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been proposed as a palliative and neoadjuvant modality.
