Photoisomerization of Dihalomethanes

Angewandte Chemie International Edition in English, 1986
Discovering a new type of reaction with simple molecules is not an everyday occurrence: The isomers 2, which are formed upon matrix irradiation of the haloiodomethane 1, can be regarded as unsolvated contact ion pairs equation image . In this rearrangement, the iodine atom migrates from the carbon atom to the halogen atom. The isomers 2a (violet), 2b (

Dynamics of Photoisomerization

1982
There has recently been a good deal of theoretical [1–3] and experimental [4–7] interest in activated barrier crossing processes in liquids. The best known model is that of Kramers [8] who derived expressions for the escape of particles over a barrier in various limiting cases. Combining Kramers ideas with recent kinetic theory calculations [1–3] leads

Photoisomerization of polybutadiene

Journal of Polymer Science Part C: Polymer Symposia, 1967
AbstractPolybutadiene, in the solid state, and in the absence of added sensitizer, undergoes photochemical cis‐trans isomerization and loss of unsaturation when irradiated in vacua with krypton 1236 A. or mercury 2537 A. radiation. The estimated quantum yields for these two reactions are 0.25 and 1.53, respectively, for the krypton irradiations, and 0 ...

Photoisomerization of phenylisothiazoles

Journal of the Chemical Society D: Chemical Communications, 1970
The photoisomerization of phenylisothiazoles into phenylthiazoles probably proceeds via tricyclic sulphonium cation intermediates.

Ergosterol Photoisomerization Reaction Scheme

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1973
The kinetics of the various isomers formed at low temperature by UV irradiation of ergosterol were studied experimentally at the wavelength λ = 253.7 nm. The characteristics of the photostationary state were used to determine the isomer precursor of the toxisterols as well as the quantum transformation yields of one isomer into another.

Photoisomerization and Thermal Isomerization of Arylazoimidazoles

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2007
Photoisomerization and thermal isomerization behaviors of an extensive series of arylazoimidazoles are investigated. Absorption spectra are characterized by a structured pipi* absorption band around 330-400 nm with a tail on the lower energy side extending to 500 nm corresponding to an npi* transition.
