Room-Temperature Photoluminescence from Er3+ in Si-Er-O and Si-Ge-Er-O Thin Films at High Erbium Concentrations

open access: yes, 2012
Prior studies have shown that photoluminescence from Er3+ impurities in silicon is severely limited at room temperature by non-radiative relaxation and solid solubility; and room temperature emission from Er3+ in oxide-based hosts becomes diminished at ...

Integration of Perovskite/Low‐Dimensional Material Heterostructures for Optoelectronics and Artificial Visual Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Heterojunctions combining halide perovskites with low‐dimensional materials enhance optoelectronic devices by enabling precise charge control and improving efficiency, stability, and speed. These synergies advance flexible electronics, wearable sensors, and neuromorphic computing, mimicking biological vision for real‐time image analysis and intelligent

Photoactivation of NV Centers in Diamond via Continuous Wave Laser Illumination of Shallow As‐Implanted Nitrogen

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an alternative method of creating charge‐stable negatively charged nitrogen vacancy (NV−) centers close to the diamond surface without high‐temperature annealing. By illuminating nitrogen‐implanted regions with a continuous‐wave 405 nm laser, NV− centers are induced, exhibiting electron spin coherence properties suitable for ...

The Potential of Reflectance and Laser Induced Luminescence Spectroscopy for Near-Field Rare Earth Element Detection in Mineral Exploration

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
New energy, transport, computer and telecommunication technologies require an increasing supply of rare earth elements (REEs). As a consequence, adequate and robust detection methods become essential for the exploration and discovery of new deposits, the

Mixed‐Dimensional 0D‐DNA‐2D Heterostructures Beyond van der Waals: A DNA‐Templated Strategy for Optoelectronic Tunability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A two‐step DNA metallization process is presented for the modular assembly of metal sulfide nanoparticles (NPs) on MoS2, with nanoscale control over their separation and ability to concomitantly assemble different kind of NPs. This allowed to tailor the photoinduced electrical response of phototransistors to different wavelengths, according to the ...

Substrate and Mg doping effects in GaAs nanowires

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2017
Mg doping of GaAs nanowires has been established as a viable alternative to Be doping in order to achieve p-type electrical conductivity. Although reports on the optical properties are available, few reports exist about the physical properties of ...

The Underlying Chemical Mechanism of Selective Chemical Etching in CsPbBr3 Nanocrystals for Reliably Accessing Near-Unity Emitters. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Reliably accessing nanocrystal luminophores with near-unity efficiencies aids in the ability to understand the upper performance limits in optoelectronic applications that require minimal nonradiative losses. Constructing structure-function relationships

Enhancing Indoor Photovoltaic Efficiency to 37.6% Through Triple Passivation Reassembly and n‐Type to p‐Type Modulation in Wide Bandgap Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Triple Passivation Treatment (TPT) strategy enables 1.75 eV wide‐bandgap perovskite solar cells (WB‐PSCs) with suppressed halide phase segregation and n‐to‐p type surface transition. The photoluminescence quantum yield increases from 0.5 to 2.1%, indicating reduced non‐radiative losses.
