Activity of 3-Carbethoxyangelicin Photolysis Products

open access: yes, 1997
3-Carbethoxyangelicin (3-CA), carrying an electron-withdrawing group at the pyrone side, has been prepared to have a fully monofunctional angelicin derivative. 3-CA does not photoreact with DNA and induces a moderate antiproliferative activity.

Direct and indirect photolysis of triclocarban in the presence of dissolved organic matter

open access: yesElementa: Science of the Anthropocene, 2015
Photolysis is an important attenuation pathway for the removal of wastewater effluent organic micropollutants from surface waters. In this work, direct and indirect processes leading to the degradation of the disinfectant, triclocarban were studied ...

Photosensitizing Au(I) Catalysis With Coumarins

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A Au(I) complex with a tethered coumarin fragment was synthesized and characterized by UV‐vis and emission spectroscopy. Its ability to facilitate photo‐driven cross‐coupling reactions through single‐electron and energy transfer events was evaluated. ABSTRACT Gold catalysis shows versatility in a wide range of challenging transformations, wherein light‐

Nitrooxylation in Organic Synthesis: From Classical Nitrate Ester Formation to Modern Catalytic Strategies

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Nitrooxylation—the installation of nitrate esters (–ONO2) has evolved from classical mixed‐acid protocols to catalytic and mechano‐, flow‐, photo‐, and electrochemical strategies. This review delineates ionic and radical manifolds for C–ONO2 bond formation, emphasizing mechanistic control, selected substrate scope, and selectivity.

UV Laser-Induced Photodecomposition of Matrix-Isolated Salicylhydroxamic Acid: Identification of New Isocyanate Complexes

open access: yesMolecules
Photochemical reactions of salicylhydroxamic acid were induced using tunable UV laser radiation followed by FTIR spectroscopy. Four pairs of co-products were experimentally found to appear in the photolysis: C6H4(OH)NCO⋯H2O (1), C6H4(OH)C(O)N⋯H2O (2 ...

N─H or O─H Bond Activation With a Bicyclic Si4 Ring Compound

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The bicyclic Si4 ring compound with zwitterionic character reacts with NH3, H2O, and selected alcohols to give functionalized saturated silicon rings, siliconoid clusters with unsubstituted Si atoms, or simple 1,3‐addition products. The experimentally observed reactivity could be rationalized based on results from mechanistic calculations employing ...

Metal‐Ion Regulated Light‐Free Z→E Isomerization of Azobenzene Glycomacrocycle

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Metal ion‐catalyzed Z→E isomerization of photoswitchable azobenzene glycomacrocycle: A new azobenzene‐based glycomacrocycle is capable of forming a 1:1 complex with divalent metal ions in both E‐ and Z‐isomers. The complexes undergo light‐free Z→E isomerization in a timescale spanning from seconds to weeks.

Green and sustainable synthesis of magnetite from copper slag via citrate complexation for methylene blue dye removal from water

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract This study proposes a novel, green, and sustainable method for synthesizing magnetic iron oxides from metallurgical copper slag (CS), leveraging its iron content as a valuable resource. Iron was extracted via acid leaching using edible citric acid (ECA), forming a citrate–iron complex (CSL), which was subsequently thermally decomposed at 300°C

Single GAF Domain Phytochrome Exhibits a pH‐Dependent Shunt on the Millisecond Timescale

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 26, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
During their light‐induced photocycle, phytochromes can engage in a thermal reversion back to the initially excited state, denoted as a shunt. This study investigates a pH‐dependent shunt transition in the Pfr state of the All2699g1 phytochrome from Nostoc punctiforme using UV/Vis laser flash photolysis and kinetic modeling. The findings suggest a keto‐
