This study presents a methodology to reveal traces of viral particles, as aerosol with known chemical and molecular structure, in a sample by means of photon and electron interactions. The method is based on Monte Carlo simulations and on the analysis of

Detecting photon-photon interactions in a superconducting circuit
A local interaction between photons can be engineered by coupling a nonlinear system to a transmission line. The required high impedance transmission line can be conveniently formed from a chain of Josephson junctions. The nonlinearity is generated by side-coupling this chain to a Cooper pair box.

Deriving a germinal center lymphocyte migration model from two-photon data [PDF]
Recently, two-photon imaging has allowed intravital tracking of lymphocyte migration and cellular interactions during germinal center (GC) reactions. The implications of two-photon measurements obtained by several investigators are currently the subject ...

Jet Production in Photon-Photon Interactions
We present results on jet production in γγ interactions where both photons are quasi-real. The invariant masses of the hadronnic system are limited to the range 4≦W$_{vis}$≦12 GeV/c$^2$. The data approach the quark-Parton-Model (QPM) expectation at the highestpTjet values (≧4 GeV/c).

Soft photon yield in nuclear interactions
First results of the study of a soft photon yield in nucleus-nucleus collisions at 3.5 GeV per nucleon at Nuclotron (LHEP, JINR) are presented. These photons are registered by an BGO electromagnetic calorimeter built by the SVD-2 Collaboration.

Photon-photon physics at the LHC and laser beam experiments, present and future
Under certain running conditions, the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) can be considered as a photon-photon collider. Indeed, in proton-proton, proton-ion, ion-ion collisions, when incoming particles pass very close to each other in very peripheral ...

Cooperative Optical Non-linearity in a blockaded Rydberg Ensemble [PDF]
This thesis describes the observation of a novel optical non-linearity mediated by the dipole-dipole interactions in a cold gas of Rydberg atoms. Electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) is used to map the strong dipolar interactions onto an ...

Scattering-Based Geometric Shaping of Photon-Photon Interactions
We construct an effective Hamiltonian of interacting bosons, based on scattered radiation off vibrational modes of designed molecular architectures. Making use of the infinite yet countable set of spatial modes representing the scattering of light, we obtain a variable photon-photon interaction in this basis.

Experiments in Cavity QED: Exploring the Interaction of Quantized Light with a Single Trapped Atom [PDF]
The experiments discussed in this thesis focus on the interaction of a single trapped atom with the single mode of a high-finesse optical cavity, in the regime of strong coupling.
