External Reflection From Two‐Photon Laser‐Printed Micromirrors Enables Photomechanical Actuation at a 90° Incident Angle

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Light reflectance increases along incidence angle and transmittance significantly drops around 90‐degree incidence angle. Here, we report two‐photon laser printed micro mirrors that redirect the skimming light beam into normal light absorption. Using this technique, light‐driven micro walkers and grippers are demonstrated by using grazing incidence ...

Bio‐Inspired Magnetically Tunable Structural Colors from Elliptical Self‐Assembled Block Copolymer Microparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cephalopod‐inspired photonic microparticles with dynamic structural coloration are fabricated via confined self‐assembly of linear block copolymers into ellipsoids containing stacked lamellae. Embedded superparamagnetic nanoparticles enable rapid magnetic alignment, restoring vivid, angle‐dependent color.

High energy green nanosecond and picosecond pulse delivery through a negative curvature fiber for precision micro-machining [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper we present an anti-resonant guiding, low-loss Negative Curvature Fiber (NCF) for the efficient delivery of high energy short (ns) and ultrashort (ps) pulsed laser light in the green spectral region.

Intermodal Brillouin scattering in solid-core photonic crystal fibers

open access: yesAPL Photonics, 2021
We investigate intermodal forward Brillouin scattering in a solid-core photonic crystal fiber (PCF), demonstrating efficient power conversion between the HE11 and HE21 modes, with a maximum gain coefficient of 21.4 W−1 km−1. By exploring mechanical modes

Silica photonic crystal fiber structure in order to simplify the process of making them [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Intelligent Procedures in Electrical Technology, 2014
In this research, a new structure of photonic crystal fibers(PCFs) will be proposed,in which instead of using the aire- holes in the cladding region, the flourine(2%) doped solid silica rods in order to reduce the problems associated with deformities of ...

2W/nm Peak-power All-Fiber Supercontinuum Source and its Application to the Characterization of Periodically Poled Nonlinear Crystals

open access: yes, 2007
We demonstrate a uniform high spectral brightness and peak power density all-fiber supercontinuum source. The source consists of a nanosecond Ytterbium fiber laser and an optimal length PCF producing a continuum with a peak power density of 2 W/nm and ...
