Polarization conversion with a photonic crystal slab [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications, 2008
We show that a photonic crystal slab can enable efficient polarization conversion. Two mechanisms are identified. The first mechanism relies on the anisotropy of the bulk properties of the metamaterial and is mediated by interferences.

Unidirectional propagation of the Bloch surface wave excited by the spinning magnetic dipole in two-dimensional photonic crystal slab. [PDF]

open access: yesSci Rep, 2021
The photonic spin Hall effect (PSHE) can be realized in a photonic crystal (PC) slab, that is, the unidirectional Bloch surface wave can propagate along the surface of the PC slab under the excitation of elliptical polarized magnetic dipole.

Automated optimization of photonic crystal slab cavities. [PDF]

open access: yesSci Rep, 2014
Thanks to their high quality factor, combined to the smallest modal volume, defect-cavities in photonic crystal slabs represent a promising, versatile tool for fundamental studies and applications in photonics. In paricular, the L3, H0, and H1 defects are the most popular and widespread cavity designs, due to their compactness, simplicity, and small ...

A Terahertz Circulator Based on Magneto Photonic Crystal Slab

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
In this paper, a terahertz circulator based on a magneto photonic crystal slab is envisaged. The triangular lattice photonic crystals with a line defect waveguide were constructed on an Al2O3 ceramic slab.

Numerical simulation of a novel bilayer photonic crystal slab biosensor with hexagonal lattice

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2019
A new type of silicon-based bilayer photonic crystal slab biosensor is proposed based on the theoretical investigation of various parameters of two-dimensional photonic crystal slab on the peak wavelength and characteristics of the reflection spectrum ...

Quasi-guided modes resulting from the band folding effect in a photonic crystal slab for enhanced interactions of matters with free-space radiations. [PDF]

open access: yesBeilstein J Nanotechnol, 2023
We elucidate that guided modes supported by a regular photonic crystal slab structure composed of a square lattice of air holes in a silicon slab will transition into quasi-guided (leaky) modes when the radius of every second column of air holes is ...

Freestanding Polymer Metasurface Supporting Higher-Order Optical Resonances for Strong Field Enhancement in TMD Monolayers. [PDF]

open access: yesSmall
A freestanding polymer metasurface is developed to enhance light emission from atomically thin semiconductors. By supporting higher‐order optical resonances that concentrate electromagnetic fields at the surface, the platform significantly improves coupling between light and WS2 monolayer.

Evolution of topological edge modes from honeycomb photonic crystals to triangular-lattice photonic crystals

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2021
The presence of edge modes at the interface of two perturbed honeycomb photonic crystals with C_{6} symmetry is often attributed to the different signs of Berry curvature at the K and K^{′} valleys.

Observation of resonant states in negative refractive photonic crystals [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications, 2014
In this paper, experimental evidences about the resonance phenomena in a negative 2D photonic crystal are shown. Localized plasmon-like modes and guided mode resonances are detected in the reflectivity spectrum of a photonic crystal slab irradiated with ...

Photon-Mediated Interactions near a Dirac Photonic Crystal Slab [PDF]

open access: yesACS Photonics, 2021
