Plasmon polaritons in a metallic photonic crystal slab

physica status solidi (c), 2003
We study the transmission properties of metallic nanowire arrays on dielectric waveguide substrates. The optical response of these metallic photonic crystal slabs is strongly affected by the coupling between their photonic (waveguide mode) and electronic (localized particle plasmon) resonances. A large Rabi splitting of 240 meV is found in transmission

Slow-Light Trapping in a Photonic Crystal Slab

2007 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO), 2007
We present a general scheme to trap slow-light in a photonic crystal slab and achieve high Q/V ratio with a fabrication tolerant design, well suited for low-threshold microlasers and cavity quantum electrodynamics.

Scattering at sidewall roughness in photonic crystal slabs

Optics Letters, 2003
We have simulated the effect of sidewall roughness in photonic-crystallike structures with different vertical refractive-index contrast. We treated the scattering off a sidewall irregularity as a radiating dipole excited by the incident waveguide mode.

Correlation Effects in Disordered Metallic Photonic Crystal Slabs

Physical Review Letters, 2007
We analyze the influence of correlations on the optical properties of disordered metallic photonic crystal slabs experimentally and theoretically. Different disorder models with different nearest-neighbor correlations are considered. We present a theory that allows us to quantitatively calculate the optical properties of the different samples.

Direct observation of photonic modes in photonic crystal slabs

2008 10th Anniversary International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks, 2008
Guided-mode resonances at the gamma-point are characterized via normal-incidence transmission measurements through photonic crystal slabs. By placing the photonic crystal slab between two orthogonally oriented polarization filters, direct light transmission is suppressed.

Photonic Crystal Slabs

2001
The radiational eigenmodes in photonic crystal slabs are classified into guided and leaky modes. The former are genuine eigenmodes with infinite lifetimes, while the latter are quasi-eigenmodes with finite lifetimes. We will show that the dispersion curves of photonic crystal slabs are well represented by the folding of those in uniform dielectric ...

Characterization of photonic bands in metal photonic crystal slabs

Optics Communications, 2014
Abstract By rotating metal photonic crystal (PC) slab around ΓK and ΓM lattice directions, transmission spectra were measured to study photonic bands in such metal PC with a triangular lattice. We found that the photonic band diagram for the ΓM lattice direction is different from that for the ΓK direction.

Photonic-Band Structure of Magnetic Photonic Crystal Slabs

2005 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings, 2006
In this paper, we introduce a rigorous computational method for the evaluation of the band structure of magnetic photonic crystal (MPC) slabs. With the help of this method, the full-wave analysis of the structure can be reduced to the analysis of an equivalent multi-conductor transmission line.

Photon Dynamics in Coupled-Cavities in Photonic Crystal Slabs

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics 2012, 2012
We present a formalism to model the coupling of photons and quantum dots in coupled cavities in photonic crystal slabs using a quasimode-based master equation. We show the effects of quasimode non-orthogonality.

Photonic crystal slab with layered elements

SPIE Proceedings, 2011
Abstract We introduce the simulation of a photonic crystal slab with a square lattice, whose basis elements are layered cylinders of an averaged refractive index . We compare it with a similar photonic crystal with a basis of the same size and a refractive index matching to the average of the layered ones.
