Resonance and Bound States in Photonic Crystal Slabs [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 2003
Summary: Using boundary-integral projections for time-harmonic electromagnetic (EM) fields, and their numerical implementation, we analyze EM resonance in slabs of two-phase dielectric photonic crystal materials. We characterize resonant frequencies by a complex Floquet-Bloch dispersion relation \(\omega = W(\beta)\) defined by the existence of a ...

Giant Photonic Spin Hall Effect by Anisotropic Band in Photonic Crystal Slabs

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2022
When a paraxial light beam is reflected from/ transmitted through an optical element with rotation symmetry, a tiny small incident angle can arise wave-vector-varying Pancharatnam-Berry (PB) phases, resulting in high-performance photonic spin Hall

All-Optical Bistability in Photonic Crystal Slabs with Coupled Cavity-waveguide Structure [PDF]

open access: yesفیزیک کاربردی ایران, 2021
In this study, we consider a photonic crystal slab with a triangular lattice, which consists of air holes with a circular shape in a tellurium background on top of a Teflon substrate.

Topologically protected vector edge states and polarization beam splitter by all-dielectric valley photonic crystal slabs

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2021
The polarization beam splitter (PBS) is the essential optical component, which is widely used in various optical instruments. Its robustness against perturbation is very necessary to all-optical classical and quantum networks.

Effects of hydrostatic pressure on the photonic band structure and quality factor of an L3 cavity in a photonic crystal slab

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2020
In this work, we investigate the effects of hydrostatic pressure on the photonic band structure and quality factor of the fundamental mode in an L3 cavity using the guided-mode expansion method in two-dimensional photonic crystal slabs.

Polarization conversion with a photonic crystal slab

open access: yesJournal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications, 2008
We show that a photonic crystal slab can enable efficient polarization conversion. Two mechanisms are identified. The first mechanism relies on the anisotropy of the bulk properties of the metamaterial and is mediated by interferences. The second mechanism is due to the resonant excitation of leaky surface waves at the interface of the photonic crystal.
