[100] Renewal of photoreceptor cells
1982Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the renewal of photoreceptor cells. Renewal of light-sensitive membranes and their intrinsic visual pigments is a universal feature of visual photoreceptors. This process has been described in vertebrate photoreceptors, but the fundamental events are probably similar in vertebrates and invertebrates.

Optical guiding by photoreceptor cells.
Federation proceedings, 1976The potential for any morphological part of a photoreceptor cell to function as an optical waveguide is determined 1) by the dimensionless parameter V as shown by Snyder (IEEE Trans., Microwave Theory Tech. 17: 1133, 1969) and by Snyder, Pask and Mitchell (J. Opt. Soc. Am.

Microvillar Photoreceptor Cells of Invertebrates
1990The photoreceptor cells of invertebrate animals differ from those of vertebrates in morphology and physiology. Our present knowledge of structure and transduction mechanism of the microvillar photoreceptor cell of invertebrates is described. Less than for vertebrates is known about the biochemistry of the enzyme cascade which leads in the invertebrate ...
