Photosensitivity at 1550 nm and Bragg grating inscription in As2Se3 microwires [PDF]
We report the first experimental observation of photosensitivity in As2Se3 glass at a wavelength of 1550 nm. We utilize this photosensitivity to induce the first Bragg gratings using a laser source at a wavelength of 1550 nm. We quantify the photosensitivity thresholds related to exposition intensity and exposition time.

A Study of the Operation of Especially Designed Photosensitive Gaseous Detectors at Cryogenic Temperatures [PDF]
In some experiments and applications there is need for large-area photosensitive detectors to operate at cryogenic temperatures. Nowadays, vacuum PMs are usually used for this purpose. We have developed special designs of planar photosensitive gaseous detectors able to operate at cryogenic temperatures.

Melanopsin, photosensitive ganglion cells, and seasonal affective disorder
In two recent reports, melanopsin gene variations were associated with seasonal affective disorder (SAD), and in changes in the timing of sleep and activity in healthy individuals. New studies have deepened our understanding of the retinohypothalamic tract, which translates environmental light received by the retina into neural signals sent to a set of

ABSTRACT Objective Quantitative markers of cortical excitability may help identify responders to anti‐seizure medications (ASMs). We studied the relationship between ASM load and two electroencephalography (EEG) markers of cortical excitability in people with refractory epilepsy. Methods We included individuals with refractory focal epilepsy undergoing

A qualitative study of knowledge, behaviour and attitudes regarding vitamin D acquisition among patients with photosensitivity disorders [PDF]
AbstractBackgroundCutaneous exposure to sunlight is a major source of vitamin D. Individuals with photosensitivity disorders have symptoms provoked by sunlight and may not achieve the brief sunlight exposures that convey vitamin D acquisition.ObjectiveTo explore knowledge, behaviour and attitudes towards vitamin D and its acquisition in patients with ...
