Light-induced biogenesis of the light-harvesting complexes of Photosystems I and II

Photosynthesis Research, 1995
The light-harvesting complexes of Photosystems I and II contain multiple chlorophyll-carotenoid-binding proteins. The stoichiometry and topology of the LHCs is precisely defined to optimally funnel captured light energy to the reaction center. The manner in which this exact arrangement is accomplished is not known. As an initial means to understand the

Difference picosecond spectroscopy of pigment-protein complexes of photosystem I from higher plants

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 1984
Using a difference picosecond spectrophotometer with a time resolution of 10 ps, we investigated excitation energy transfer and charge separation in pigment-protein complexes of Photosystem I from bean leaves (chlorophyllP-700 = 60). Under 20 ps excitation at 650 or 667 nm, the difference absorption spectra in the spectral region 600–720 nm were ...

Characterization of Monoclonal Antibodies to Polypeptides of the P 700 Chlorophyll a-Protein Complex of Photosystem I

Journal of Plant Physiology, 1990
Summary Monoclonal antibodies (McAbs) have been produced which discriminate between the two major protein components of the PSI reaction centre designated the P 700 chl a-protein (PSI-AI and PSI-A2). Rats were immunised with PSI enriched preparations from lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) leaves. Antibody-secreting cultures were selected which bind to both

Photosystem I Complex of Higher Plants: Purification and Characterization of its Two Chlorophyll-Protein Complexes

1987
Higher plants’ photosystem I (PSI) contains two chlorophyll-protein complexes: a core complex (CCI) and an antenna complex (LHCI) (1). While only light harvesting occurs in the LHCI complex, primary photochemistry as well as some light harvesting take place in CCI, which contains the reaction center (P700).
