Bicarbonate activation of the monomeric photosystem II-PsbS/Psb27 complex

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 2023
Abstract In thylakoid membranes, photosystem II (PSII) monomers from the stromal lamellae contain the subunits PsbS and Psb27 (PSIIm-S/27), while PSII monomers (PSIIm) from granal regions lack these subunits. Here, we have isolated and characterized these 2 types of PSII complexes in tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum).

DnaK3 Is Involved in Biogenesis and/or Maintenance of Thylakoid Membrane Protein Complexes in the Cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesLife, 2020
DnaK3, a highly conserved cyanobacterial chaperone of the Hsp70 family, binds to cyanobacterial thylakoid membranes, and an involvement of DnaK3 in the biogenesis of thylakoid membranes has been suggested. As shown here, light triggers synthesis of DnaK3

Photoprotection Mechanisms in wheat Plants under High Light and Cold Temperature Conditions [PDF]

open access: yesZīst/shināsī-i Giyāhī-i Īrān, 2017
High light damages photosynthetic machinery, primarily photosystem II (PSII), and causes photoinhibition that can limit plant photosynthetic activity, growth and productivity.

The Effect of Short-Term Heating on Photosynthetic Activity, Pigment Content, and Pro-/Antioxidant Balance of A. thaliana Phytochrome Mutants

open access: yesPlants, 2023
The effects of heating (40 °C, 1 and 2 h) in dark and light conditions on the photosynthetic activity (photosynthesis rate and photosystem II activity), content of photosynthetic pigments, activity of antioxidant enzymes, content of thiobarbituric acid ...

The Ability of Cyanobacterial Cells to Restore UV-B Radiation Induced Damage to Photosystem II is Influenced by Photolyase Dependent DNA Repair [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Damage of DNA and Photosystem-II are among the most significant effects of UV-B irradiation in photosynthetic organisms. Both damaged DNA and Photosystem-II can be repaired, which represent important defense mechanisms against detrimental UV-B effects ...

24-epibrassinolide improved chilled tomato photosynthetic performance by stabilizing electron transport chain and function of photosystem II

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2022
To explore the protective mechanisms of brassinosteroids in the chill-induced photoinhibition in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), we studied the effect of foliar sprayed 24-epibrassinolide (EBR, 0.1µM) on the gas exchange, chlorophyll fluorescence ...

Transcriptome analysis reveals the molecular mechanism of yield increases in maize under stable soil water supply.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
This study explored the physiological and molecular mechanisms of yield increase in maize under stable soil water content (SW) conditions. Results of the study showed that under SW conditions, corn yield increased by 38.72 and 44.09% in 2019 and 2020 ...
