Polypeptide composition of the purified Photosystem II pigment-protein complex from spinach

Biochimica Et Biophysica Acta - Bioenergetics, 1979
The Photosystem II pigment-protein complex, the chlorophyll alpha-protein comprising the reaction center of Photosystem II, was prepared from EDTA-treated spinach chloroplasts by digitonin extraction, sucrose-gradient centrifugation, DEAE-cellulose column chromatography, and isoelectrofocussing on Ampholine.

Minor Constituents of Photosystem II Core Complexes: Possible Regulators of Photosystem II Protein Kinase

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1997
We recently identified a 58-kDa protein kinase, PS II-PK, closely associated in substoichiometric abundance with a core complex of photosystem II and capable of phosphorylating both the photosystem and its associated light-harvesting proteins. Oxidizing species, produced during aerobic illumination, inhibited the kinase, and the irreversibility of this

Spectroscopic characterization of the Photosystem II chlorophyll-protein complexes

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 1988
Abstract We investigated by polarized light spectroscopy the organization of the pigments in the Photosystem II (PS II) reaction center of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii using PS II particles and subparticles of varying photochemical activity, antenna size and polypeptide composition.

Photosystem I and II chlorophyll-protein complexes of higher plant chloroplasts

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 1971
Abstract An improved purification procedure which provides large quantities of the Photosystem I and II chlorophyll-protein complexes in a homogeneous form is reported. Only approx. 20% of the chlorophyll in the plants examined is associated with Photosystem I. Preliminary analyses of the properties of the two chlorophyll-proteins are given.
