Activatable smart contrast agents for photoacoustic imaging

open access: yesSmart Molecules, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent advances in smart activatable photoacoustic imaging (PAI) contrast agents, which dynamically modulate their optical properties in response to external stimuli or microenvironmental cues. It discusses their molecular design, activation mechanisms, biomedical applications, and future prospects for clinically tailored use ...

Regularized Single‐Cell Imaging Enables Generalizable AI Models for Stain‐Free Cell Viability Screening

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
Recent advances in AI suggest the potential for stain‐free cell viability screening on brightfield microscopy images. However, no model has been reliably generalized across previously unseen cell types and compounds. Here, we show that “regularized imaging” of single cells in nanowells enables training of generalizable AI models for stain‐free ...

Nanobody–chlorin e6 conjugate for Nectin‐4‐mediated tumor targeting and enhanced photodynamic therapy

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Nectin‐4 is frequently overexpressed in solid tumors, yet many PDT photosensitizers show poor water solubility and nonspecific uptake. A Nectin‐4‐targeted nanobody–chlorin e6 conjugate (NPC) improves aqueous solubility and selectively accumulates in Nectin‐4‐positive tumor cells.
