Auxin‐Producing Pseudomonas Recruited by Root Flavonoids Increases Rice Rhizosheath Formation through the Bacterial Histidine Kinase Under Soil Drying

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Drought is a major cause of crop losses across agricultural regions. Rhizosheath formation enhances plant resistance to drought. Polyploids may tolerate stress more effectively through increased interactions with bacteria. However, the contributions of tetraploid rice associated microbiota to rhizosheath formation under soil drying remain unclear ...

Weight Cycling Deregulates Eating Behavior in Mice via the Induction of Durable Gut Dysbiosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Weight cycling in Humans is suspected to dysregulate eating behavior. Mice submitted to body weight cycling by alternating western‐type and regular chow diets display increased hedonic appetite when exposed to a palatable diet, reminiscent of binge‐eating episodes.

Abiotic Factors and Plant Communities Shape the Distribution of Soil Pathogenic Oomycetes in Chinese Grasslands

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The continental‐scale study reveals that soil phosphorus strongly predicts the richness of soil pathogenic oomycetes in Chinese grasslands, while precipitation and plant species richness drive their absolute abundance; modeling predicts ≈42% of grassland areas may face elevated oomycete disease risk under future climate scenarios, especially in typical

Genomic Variation Underpins Genetic Divergence and Differing Salt Resilience in Sesbania bispinosa

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sesbania, a leguminous halophyte, thrives in saline soils. Comparative genomics reveals key genomic variations—particularly chromosomal inversions—are identified as contributors to population differentiation and salt resilience. These findings advance the understanding of genomic variation driving evolution and phenotypic differentiation and offer ...

Complete mitochondrial genome and phylogenetic position of Chaenodraco wilsoni

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2017
Chaenodraco wilsoni, a species of Channichthyidae, inhabits in southern ocean. The total length of complete mitochondrial genome of C. wilsoni is 17,432 bp, which encoded 37 genes. Similar to most Antarctic fishes, the ND6/tRNA (glu) translocation and an

A Blast‐Resistant NLR Gene Confers Drought Resistance by Competitively Interacting with an E3 Ligase to Protect Phenylalanine Ammonia‐Lyase in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The NLR protein PibH8 interacts with phenylalanine ammonia‐lyase OsPAL1 and E3 ubiquitin ligase OsFBK16. Through competitive binding, PibH8 weakens the interaction between OsFBK16 and OsPAL1, thereby reducing the degradation of OsPAL1 by OsFBK16. The Hap1 allele of PibH8 exhibits a higher expression level than Hap2, thus accumulating more PibH8 protein,

A new species of Orobdella (Hirudinida, Arhynchobdellida, Gastrostomobdellidae) and redescription of Orobdella kawakatsuorum from Hokkaido, Japan with the phylogenetic position of the new species

open access: yesZooKeys, 2012
A new quadrannulate Orobdella Oka, 1895 species, Orobdella koikei sp. n., is described on the basis of six specimens collected from Hokkaido, Japan. In addition, an emended description of quadrannulate Orobdella kawakatsuorum Richardson, 1975 is also ...

Discovery to Engineering of Mycotoxin Deoxynivalenol Degrading Enzymes Based on the Specialized Glyoxalase I

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Deoxynivalenol (DON), a prevalent food mycotoxin, is an important risk factor in global food safety. A molecular phylogeny‐guided engineering approach is devised to repurpose specialized glyoxalase I (SPG) as a DON deactivator. Engineered SPG variants demonstrate superior stability and are highly capable of converting DON into less toxic products ...
