A Mutual Information Based Sequence Distance For Vertebrate Phylogeny Using Complete Mitochondrial Genomes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Traditional sequence distances require alignment. A new mutual information based sequence distance without alignment is defined in this paper. This distance is based on compositional vectors of DNA sequences or protein sequences from complete genomes ...

Actin dynamics controlled by IqgC, a RasGAP at the crossroads between the IQGAP and fungal GAP1 families

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IqgC is a RasGAP from Dictyostelium discoideum. IqgC binds RasG via its RasGAP domain and deactivates it on macroendocytic cups, thereby suppressing the uptake of fluid and particles. IqgC has a positive effect on cell‐substratum adhesion, and its RGCt domain is required for recruitment to ventral foci.

Appearances are deceptive: molecular phylogeny recovers the Scaly Gecko Hemidactylus scabriceps (Reptilia: Squamata: Gekkonidae) as a member of a scansorial and rupicolous clade

open access: yesJournal of Threatened Taxa, 2018
We reassess the systematics of Hemidactylus scabriceps, a recently rediscovered and poorly known gecko, and elucidate its phylogenetic position using molecular data for the first time.

Evolutionary dynamics of the chloroplast genome in Daphne (Thymelaeaceae): comparative analysis with related genera and insights into phylogenetics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Comparative analysis of chloroplast genomes from 14 genera of Thymelaeaceae revealed variation in gene content, ranging from 128 to 142 genes, primarily influenced by IR expansion/contraction events and pseudogenization of ndhF, ndhI, and ndhG. Two large inversions were detected within the large single‐copy region, including a synapomorphic inversion ...

Complete mitochondrial genome characteristics and phylogenetic position of Lycodes brevipes Bean, 1890

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2019
Lycodes brevipes is one of the representative species of zoarcid fishes with little genetic information. The complete mitochondrial genome sequence of L. brevipes was sequenced by long PCR and primer walking methods. The mitogenome is a circular molecule
