Suppressing Glycerol‐3‐phosphate Phosphatase and Enhancing Glycerol‐3‐Phosphate Shuttle Flux Crucial for High‐Efficiency Fatty Acid Production in the Fast‐Growing Oleaginous Schizochytrium

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study establishes an efficient oleaginous heterotrophic microalga, Schizochytrium, through chassis optimization and metabolic engineering, significantly enhancing fatty acid titers and productivities. It also identifies a regulatory mechanism that coordinates biomass and lipid synthesis, providing a rational target for metabolic pathway rewiring ...

Soil Nutrient Enrichment Induces Trade‐Offs in Bacterial Life‐History Strategies Promoting Plant Productivity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Soil nutrient enrichment induces the trade‐offs between bacterial functional potential and growth‐rate potential. Such trade‐offs favor specific plant‐beneficial species and genes, playing a pivotal role in determining plant productivity. These findings enhance the understanding of the microbial responses in agroecosystems to ongoing global ...

Phylogenetic Resolution and Quantifying the Phylogenetic Diversity and Dispersion of Communities

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2009
Conservation biologists and community ecologists have increasingly begun to quantify the phylogenetic diversity and phylogenetic dispersion in species assemblages. In some instances, the phylogenetic trees used for such analyses are fully bifurcating, but in many cases the phylogenies being used contain unresolved nodes (i.e. polytomies).

Retromer Regulates Macro‐ and Micro‐Autophagy via Distinct Vacuolar Proteases in the Rice Blast Fungus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In wild‐type of M. oryzae (Guy11), MoPrb1 and MoPep4 are delivered into the vacuole by the retromer complex to mediate protein degradation and selective autophagy. Their proper localization and catalytic functions are essential for the fungal vegetative growth, conidiation and pathogenicity. However, retromer mutations disrupt this transport, impairing
