Feasibility of a ctDNA multigenic panel for non‐small‐cell lung cancer early detection and disease surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Plasma‐based detection of actionable mutations is a promising approach in lung cancer management. Analysis of ctDNA with a multigene NGS panel identified TP53, KRAS, and EGFR as the most frequently altered, with TP53 and KRAS in treatment‐naïve patients and TP53 and EGFR in previously treated patients.

Characterizing epithelial‐mesenchymal transition‐linked heterogeneity in breast cancer circulating tumor cells at a single‐cell level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In over 50% of non‐metastatic breast cancer patients, circulating tumor cells (CTCs) along the whole epithelial‐mesenchymal transition spectrum are detected. Total CTC number and individual phenotypes relate to aggressive disease characteristics, including lymph node involvement and higher tumor proliferation. At the single‐cell level, mesenchymal CTCs

The complete mitochondrial genome of the deep-sea paskentanid snail Alviniconcha marisindica (Caenogastropoda: abyssochrysoidea) from the Carlsberg Ridge

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources
Alviniconcha marisindica Okutani 2014 is a deep-sea gastropod inhabited in hydrothermal vents of the Indo-Pacific. It belongs to superfamily Abyssochrysoidea. In the present study, we report the complete mitochondrial genome of A.

Not just a by‐product: circular DNA molecules derived from V(D)J recombination are linked to worse prognosis in B‐cell leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Gao et al. report that circular DNA molecules created as by‐products of V(D)J recombination during lymphocyte maturation (ESCs) can replicate and be retained for much longer than previously thought in healthy cells. In BCP‐ALL cells, increased ESC abundance correlates with a greater chance of relapse likely mediated by their ability to induce genome ...

Is it time to switch to a formulation other than the live attenuated poliovirus vaccine to prevent poliomyelitis?

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health
The polioviruses (PVs) are mainly transmitted by direct contact with an infected person through the fecal-oral route and respiratory secretions (or more rarely via contaminated water or food) and have a primary tropism for the gut.

Text Phylogeny

open access: yes, 2016
Over the history of mankind, textual records change. Sometimes due to mistakes during transcription, sometimes on purpose, as a way to rewrite facts and reinterpret history. There are several classical cases, such as the logarithmic tables, and the transmission of antique and medieval scholarship.
