Physical Exercise Inhibits Inflammation and Microglial Activation

open access: yesCells, 2019
Accumulating evidence indicates that exercise can enhance brain function and attenuate neurodegeneration. Besides improving neuroplasticity by altering the synaptic structure and function in various brain regions, exercise also modulates multiple systems

Engineering peptides into antibodies—opportunities and strategies for therapeutic innovation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Peptides and antibodies occupy complementary therapeutic niches. Peptides recognize difficult targets in a compact format, while antibodies add specificity, long half‐life, and effector functions. This review examines strategies that merge both modalities—peptide grafting into loops, terminal and Fc fusions, and bioconjugation—highlighting how ...

Does Physical Activity Influence Semantic Memory Activation in Amnestic Mild Cognitive Impairment? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The effect of physical activity (PA) on functional brain activation for semantic memory in amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) was examined using event-related functional magnetic resonance imaging during fame discrimination.

Phosphate Removal from Aqueous Solutions using Activated Carbon Derived from Nypa fruticans

open access: yesAceh International Journal of Science and Technology
Nypa fruticans (NF) waste which includes the empty fruit bunches and shells (NFW), frond (NFF) and leaflets (NFL) composes primarily of hemicellulose, cellulose and lignin, shows great potential as a raw material for activated carbon (AC).

The microbiome in human skin aging

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐related skin changes encompass the well‐known visible phenotypic alterations, together with microbiome dysbiosis and a series of molecular aging hallmarks. These hallmarks characterize not only a fully stablished aged phenotype but also the skin aging process itself.

Physical modeling experiments to study periodic activation of faults in seismic zones

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2018
Our study aimed to find a mechanism that controls preparation and subsequent full seismic activation of large faults that may act as sources of strong earthquakes. A large fault was physically modeled to investigate the dynamics of its deformation.

Partial depletion of plasminogen activator inhibitor‐1 decreases subcutaneous fat cell hypertrophy and liver cholesterol in high‐fat‐fed female mice

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Obesity raises blood levels of PAI‐1, a protein linked to metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in people with obesity. In female mice fed a high‐fat diet, partially lowering PAI‐1 led to smaller subcutaneous fat cells and lower liver cholesterol, without changing body weight or insulin sensitivity.
