Contrasting properties of soil organic matter fractions isolated by different physical separation methodologies

open access: yesGeoderma
Physical soil organic matter (SOM) fractions provide increased insight into the biogeochemical functioning of soils. Several fractionation methodologies have been developed to separate particulate (POM) from mineral-associated organic matter (MAOM ...

From organic chemistry to fat and oil chemistry*

open access: yesOléagineux, Corps gras, Lipides, 2009
With his work on animal fat and identification of fatty acids, Chevreul was a pioneer in organic chemistry. As Chevreul, I had a passion for organic chemistry too.

From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

Fractionation of Polymers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
Fractionation is an important tool for obtaining structural information on polymers. It is also important for isolating relatively homogeneous samples of polymer to use in determining relationships between structure and properties.

Delivery of DNA‐encoded vaccines and proteins in mice using cutaneous suction‐mediated transfection

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cutaneous suction‐mediated transfection in mice for delivery of DNA‐encoded vaccines and proteins. A critical limitation of DNA vaccines and other therapeutics is transfection in vivo to produce the encoded antigens or therapeutic proteins. Cutaneous suction‐based methods have demonstrated effectiveness in many animal models and have been successfully ...

Application of Fractional Operators in Physics and Engineering

open access: yes, 2020
In this paper we present a solution to a fractional integral of order 3/2 with the use of fractional Cauchy-like integral formula. The integral arises during the solution of BiotSavart equation to find the exact analytical solution for the magnetic field components of a solenoid. The integrals are computed by cutting the branch line in order to have an

Purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 for phase separation studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe detailed protocols for the purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 (MpARF2). This protein is fused to an MBP solubility tag and an mNG fluorescent tag and is purified from Escherichia coli. The presented procedures make it possible to study MpARF2 assemblies, which could arise from phase separation ...

The Deuterium Fractionation of NH3 in Massive Star-forming Regions

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Deuteration is sensitive to environmental conditions in star-forming regions. To investigate NH _2 D chemistry, we compared the spatial distribution of ortho-NH _2 D ${1}_{11}^{s}-{1}_{01}^{a}$ , NH _3 (1,1), and NH _3 (2,2) in 12 late-stage massive star-

Protocol for quantifying miRNA trafficking across the endosomal membrane

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An in vitro protocol measures miRNA uptake into endosomes isolated from mammalian cell extracts, which are free of subcellular contaminants. Performed at 37 °C in the presence of ATP, it ensures the import of single‐stranded miRNA into the endosomal lumen.
