Abundance of intrinsic disorder in SV-IV, a multifunctional androgen-dependent protein secreted from rat seminal vesicle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The potent immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory and procoagulant properties of the protein no. 4 secreted from the rat seminal vesicle epithelium (SV-IV) have been previously found to be modulated by a supramolecular monomer-trimer ...

How proteins bind macrocycles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The potential utility of synthetic macrocycles (MCs) as drugs, particularly against low-druggability targets such as protein-protein interactions, has been widely discussed. There is little information, however, to guide the design of MCs for good target

Physicochemical and Pharmacokinetic Analysis of Anacardic Acid Derivatives [PDF]

open access: yesACS Omega, 2020
Anacardic acid (AA) and its derivatives are well-known for their therapeutic applications ranging from antitumor, antibacterial, antioxidant, anticancer, and so forth. However, their poor pharmacokinetic and safety properties create significant hurdles in the formulation of the final drug molecule. As a part of our endeavor to enhance the potential and

Connecting GSK-3β Inhibitory Activity with IKK-β or ROCK-1 Inhibition to Target Tau Aggregation and Neuroinflammation in Alzheimer’s Disease—Discovery, In Vitro and In Cellulo Activity of Thiazole-Based Inhibitors

open access: yesMolecules
GSK-3β, IKK-β, and ROCK-1 kinases are implicated in the pathomechanism of Alzheimer’s disease due to their involvement in the misfolding and accumulation of amyloid β (Aβ) and tau proteins, as well as inflammatory processes.

Structural systematic studies and conformational analyses of a 3x3 isomer grid of fluoro-N-(pyridyl)benzamides; physicochemical correlations, polymorphism and isomorphous relationships [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The effect of fluorine and pyridine N atom substitution patterns on molecular structure and conformation is probed in a 3 3 isomer grid (Scheme 1) of fluoro-N-(pyridyl)benzamides (Fxx) (C12H9N2OF, x = para-/meta-/ortho-) to evaluate and correlate ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
