Linked dimers of the AAA+ ATPase Msp1 reveal energetic demands and mechanistic plasticity for substrate extraction from lipid bilayers

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells must clear mislocalized or faulty proteins from membranes to survive. The AAA+ ATPase Msp1 performs this task, but dissecting how its six subunits work together is challenging. We engineered linked dimers with varied numbers of functional subunits to reveal how Msp1 subunits cooperate and use energy to extract proteins from the lipid bilayer ...

Inverse seesaw and dark matter in a gauged B − L extension with flavour symmetry

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
We propose a model which generates neutrino masses by the inverse seesaw mechanism, provides a viable dark matter candidate and explains the muon (g−2) anomaly.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Phenomenology of the generalised scotogenic model with fermionic dark matter

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
We study a simple extension of the Standard Model that accounts for neutrino masses and dark matter. The Standard Model is augmented by two Higgs doublets and one Dirac singlet fermion, all charged under a new dark global symmetry.

QCD axion window and false vacuum Higgs inflation

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
The abundance of the QCD axion is known to be suppressed if the Hubble parameter during inflation, H inf , is lower than the QCD scale, and if the inflation lasts sufficiently long.

The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

Search for Physics beyond the Standard Model at the Tevatron [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Recent searches for physics beyond the standard model at the Tevatron are reported, with emphasis on supersymmetry.Comment: to appear in Proceedings of SUSY06, the 14th International Conference on Supersymmetry and the Unification of Fundamental ...

Asymptotic safety, the Higgs boson mass, and beyond the standard model physics [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2019
There are many hints that gravity is asymptotically safe. The inclusion of gravitational corrections can result in the ultraviolet fundamental Standard Model and constrain the Higgs mass to take the smallest value such that electroweak vacuum is stable ...

Strong thermal SO(10)-inspired leptogenesis in the light of recent results from long-baseline neutrino experiments

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
We confront recent experimental results on neutrino mixing parameters with the requirements from strong thermal SO(10)-inspired leptogenesis, where the asymmetry is produced from next-to-lightest right-handed neutrinos N 2 independently of the initial ...

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.
