MAGNESIUM DEFICIENCY AND CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES: TIME TO ACT

open access: yesРациональная фармакотерапия в кардиологии, 2015
Progression of cardiovascular disease is often caused by a deficiency of magnesium in the human body. Magnesium belongs to the necessary vital macronutrients providing many physiological and pathological reactions and is involved in the constructive ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Anticancer drugs and cardiotoxicity: the role of cardiomyocyte and non-cardiomyocyte cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine
Cardiotoxicity can be defined as “chemically induced heart disease”, which can occur with many different drug classes treating a range of diseases. It is the primary cause of drug attrition during pre-clinical development and withdrawal from the market ...

Adaptor protein CIN85 potentiates the motility of osteosarcoma cells via the Akt/mTOR and MMP2‐COL3A1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CIN85 is highly expressed in osteosarcoma, particularly in metastatic lesions. Its overexpression increases cell migration and Matrigel invasion, while silencing CIN85 suppresses these behaviors. Transcriptome analysis shows that CIN85 regulates MMP2, COL3A1, and Akt/mTOR signaling. Targeting these pathways reverses CIN85‐induced motility, highlighting

A comprehensive review on the effects of sex hormones on chemotherapy-induced cardiotoxicity: are they lucrative or unprofitable?

open access: yesCardio-Oncology
Chemotherapy is one of the routine treatment for preventing rapid growth of the tumor cells. However, chemotherapeutic agents, especially doxorubicin cause damages to the normal cells especially cardiomyocytes.

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Physiological and Pharmacokinetic Alterations and Drug-Nutrient Interactions During Pregnancy

open access: yesİstanbul Medical Journal, 2017
During pregnancy, many physiological and metabolic alterations occur to support the requirements of the developing fetus. Alterations associated with the respiratory, cardiovascular, hematological, urinary, and gastrointestinal systems (GIS) may result ...

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Investigating the protective role of the natural hormone Melatonin, in reducing drug-induced cardiotoxicity in the therapy of chronic diseases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Heart failure (HF) is a highly complex disorder and a major end-point of cardiovascular diseases (CVD). The pathogenesis of HF is mostly unresolved but involves interplay between cardiac structural and electrical remodelling, metabolic alterations, cell ...
