Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Effects of electroencephalography-based art therapy on emotion regulation difficulties, psychological well-being, relaxation and attention levels among college students

open access: yesHumanities & Social Sciences Communications
College students face increasing psychological health challenges, yet effective emotion regulation interventions remain understudied. This study examines whether electroencephalography (EEG) feedback can enhance the effectiveness of art therapy for ...

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Analyzing VR-based group discussions for timely speaking-intention feedback to leaders

open access: yesFrontiers in Computer Science
IntroductionDespite advances in virtual reality (VR) devices, leaders in VR-based group discussions lack inclusive facilitation support. Speaking-intention cues are latent information indicating readiness to speak, yet they are difficult to perceive in ...

The assessment of physiology education by student feedback

open access: yes, 2015
Recording of pattern visual evoked potentials (pVEP) is a method that allows assessment of visual pathways as a whole. In our study, we aimed to assess pVEP latency and amplitude to checkerboard pattern stimuli presented bilaterally and unilaterally (left and right).

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Using Open-Loop Experiments to Study Physiological Systems, With Examples From the Human Eye-Movement Systems

open access: yes, 1989
To analyze the contribution of each element in a sensory feedback control system, it is necessary to study the system with the feedback loop opened. Some physiological systems have multiple or even unknown sources of feedback, which makes it exceedingly

Am I Top of the Pops? Does Feedback of Live GPS Between Sets of Hurling-Specific Small-Sided Games Improve Subsequent Running and Physiological Performance?

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The investigation aimed to determine if live feedback of team- and player-specific global positioning system (GPS) running performance data between bouts of hurling small-sided games (SSGs) altered the physical and physiological responses during ...

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Effect of disparities of feedback on pacing in cycle time trials

open access: yes, 2012
The purpose of this study is to understand the effect of hypoxia during warm-up and competition on performance during cycle time trials. Methods: Seven well-trained subjects performed a VO2max test, two habituation trials, and four randomly ordered ...
