Photosensitized oxidation of phytol in seawater
Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology A: Chemistry, 1988Abstract In synthetic seawater containing traces of anthraquinone, phytol is photo-oxidized rapidly by solar radiation. The photochemical processes lead mainly to the formation of 2,6,10-trimethyltridecane, 6,10,14-trimethyl-2-pentadecanone, pristanal and phytenal. In order to explain the formation of these different compounds, mechanisms which first

Phytol derivatives as novel immunoadjuvants (87.33)
The Journal of Immunology, 2010Abstract Adjuvants are widely used to influence the course of immune response. Improved adjuvants tailored to immunogens are much sought after. In order to achieve this, we are developing new adjuvants based on chemically modified phytol (J Immune Based Ther. Vaccines 2006, 5:4).

Beeinflussung des Leber‐Fettstoffwechsels durch Phytol
Helvetica Chimica Acta, 1954AbstractAfter feeding rats with small quantities of phytol for 4 days the synthesis of fatty acids and the oxidation of acetate in liver slices have been studied with the aid of 1 ‐14C labelled acetate. Phytol caused a marked increase in the oxidation of acetate and a reduced synthesis of fatty acids.

Intolérance au phytol: Maladie de Refsum
Biochimie, 1972Summary Heredopathia atactica polyneuritiformis (HAP, Refsum's disease) has been shown to be an inherited lipid storage disease in which large amounts of an unusual fatty acid, phytanic acid (3, 7, 11, 15 tetra-methyl-hexadecanoic acid), accumulate in all body tissues.
