Betacyanins from plants and cell cultures of Phytolacca americana
Phytochemistry, 1996Betacyanins from cell cultures of Phytolacca americana were characterized and compared with those of the stems and ripening fruits of the plant. Whereas in fruits prebetanin (betanin 6'-O-sulphate) and its isoform predominate, in the stem and cell cultures feruloylated derivatives occur as the major components.

Purification and biological activities of pokeweed (Phytolacca Americana) mitogens
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Protein Structure, 1976Five mitogens, designated Pa-1 through Pa-5, were purified from the roots of pokeweed (Phytolacca americana) by means of ethanol fractionation, DEAE-cellulose column chromatography, affinity chromatography on a column of desialized human erythrocyte glycopeptide-Sepharose 4B, and gel filtration.

Phytolaccinic acid, a new triterpene from Phytolacca americana
Tetrahedron, 1974Abstract The saponin from the berries of Phytolacca americana yielded one known and two new aglycones. One of the new aglycones was identified as desmethylphytolaccagenin 2 , and the other as 3β, 23-dihydroxyolean-12-ene-28, 30-dioic acid-30-methyl ester 3 .
