Integration of biological mite control into outdoor strawberry production: a matter of efficacy and economy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Ten years experiences in experimental and practical fields prove that effective control of strawberry mite can be achieved by inundative introductions of the predatory mite Amblyseius cucumeris. Lately, Neoseiulus barkeri has been included to experiments

Does behaviour matter? The role and feasibility of research into arthropod behavioural syndromes to inform invertebrate translocation efforts

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, Volume 18, Issue 5, Page 869-879, September 2025.
Animal personality plays a key role in translocation success in both wild‐to‐wild and captive‐to‐wild translocations, with important implications for the success of conservation projects. However, the majority of studies so far have explored the link between personality and translocation success in vertebrate translocations, and there has been less ...

Feeding preference of Phytoseiulus persimilis Athias-Henriot (Acari: Phytosei-idae) towards untreated and Beauveria bassiana-treated Tetranychus urticae (Acari: Tetranychidae) on cucumber leaves

open access: yesPersian Journal of Acarology, 2014
Determination of the host preference of predatory mites when receiving signals related to either untreated and Beauveria bassiana-treated Tetranychus urticae (Acari: Tetranychidae) is important in predicting the predatory mite’s reaction when ...

JA‐Mediated Regulation of Amino Acid Homeostasis Adjusts Metabolic Flux and Enhances Spider Mite Tolerance via the SlJAZ8‐SlWRKY57‐SlAVT6s Module in Tomato

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 31, August 21, 2025.
This study elucidates a novel SlJAZ8‐SlWRKY57‐SlAVT6A/SlAVT6B module that effectively channels metabolic flux from primary to secondary metabolism, impacting plant growth, development, and resistance. Two novel vacuolar amino acid exporters, SlAVT6A and SlAVT6B, fine‐tunes trichomes, terpenes, and gibberellins, bolstering spider mite resistance.

Rice seed quality development and temperature during late development and maturation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The potential longevity of japonica rice (Oryza sativa L. subsp. japonica) seed is particularly sensitive to high temperature – and thus climate change – during development and maturation. Cultivar Taipei 309 was grown at 28/208C (12 h/12 h) and then

Effect of fungus Lecanicillium lecanii and bacteria Bacillus thuringiensis, Streptomyces avermitilis on two-spotted spider mite Tetranychus urticae (Acari: Tetranychidae) and predatory mite Phytoseiulus persimilis (Acari: Phytoseiidae)

open access: yesJournal of Plant Protection Research, 2020
The efficacy of the fungus Lecanicillium lecanii and two bacteria, Bacillus thuringiensis and Streptomyces avermitilis against the two-spotted spider mite Tetranychus urticae Koch and side effects on its predatory mite Phytoseiulus persimilis A.-H. was

Selection for zoophagy influences biocontrol efficacy and fruit damage by Dicyphus hesperus in greenhouses

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 173, Issue 6, Page 522-531, June 2025.
Dicyphus hesperus, a zoophytophagous predator, effectively controls Bemisia tabaci in tomato greenhouses. Highly zoophagous lines rapidly reduced whitefly populations without causing significant damage to tomatoes, whereas lowly zoophagous lines were equally efficient over time but caused more damage.

Mitigating ground effect on mini quadcopters with model reference adaptive control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Mitigating ground effect becomes a big challenge for autonomous aerial vehicles when they are flying in close proximity to the ground. This paper aims to develop a precise model of ground effect on mini quadcopters, provide an advanced control algorithm ...

What is the potential for artificial selection of insect biological control traits? A systematic review of their genetic variation, heritability, and evolvability

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 173, Issue 6, Page 463-497, June 2025.
Growing interest in optimizing biocontrol traits, particularly due to Nagoya Protocol constraints, necessitates understanding their heritability and genetic variation. This systematic review of 5209 studies on arthropod biocontrol agents yielded 94 relevant articles, with 42 providing heritability values.
