A vegetação secundária em um fragmento florestal urbano: influência de exóticas invasoras na comunidade vegetal. Secondary vegetation in a urban forest remnant: alien species influence on plant community [PDF]

open access: yesRevista do Instituto Florestal, 2016
O crescimento urbano desordenado da região metropolitana de São Paulo resultou na supressão da maior parte da vegetação natural, restando apenas os remanescentes protegidos em Unidades de Conservação de Proteção Integral, entre eles o Parque Estadual ...

Community concepts in plant ecology: from Humboldtian plant geography to the superorganism and beyond [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The paper seeks to provide an introduction to, and review of, the history of concepts of the plant community. Eighteenth-century naturalists recognised that vegetation was distributed geographically and that different species of plants and animals were ...

Century‐long trends in plant diversity of temperate mountain vegetation are modulated along elevation gradient

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 3, March 2026.
Resurvey studies in mountain forests of the Tatra Mountains (Central Europe) show that plant diversity has increased over the past century, particularly at lower elevations. These shifts were associated more with increased nitrogen deposition and reduced grazing pressure than with direct climate warming.

Phytosociological Insights into Vegetation Shaped by Long-Term Military Use

open access: yesLand
This study presents the vegetation of a Mediterranean area in Croatia, abandoned by the military three decades ago after two centuries of use. From 2023 to 2025, 97 phytosociological relevés were taken using the Braun–Blanquet approach.

Using recommender systems to analyze and predict plant communities from partial assemblages

open access: yesEcological Monographs, Volume 96, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract Safeguarding biodiversity requires a detailed understanding of the biosphere, especially regarding the distribution and state of habitats. Citizen science data offer a rich source of useful information, but they usually only contain partial records of species assemblages, as predominantly opportunistic observations of individual species are ...
