Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Systematic 1/S study of the 2D Hubbard model at half-filling

open access: yes, 1994
The 2D Hubbard model is extended by placing 2S orbitals at each lattice site and studied in a systematic 1/S expansion. The 1/S results for the magnetic susceptibility and the spectra of spin-wave excitations at half-filling are consistent with the large

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Two-dimensional Nanolithography Using Atom Interferometry

open access: yes, 2004
We propose a novel scheme for the lithography of arbitrary, two-dimensional nanostructures via matter-wave interference. The required quantum control is provided by a pi/2-pi-pi/2 atom interferometer with an integrated atom lens system.

dayside Pi 2 pulsations at low latitudes

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 1989
In this paper we investigate the occurrence of dayside Pi 2 geomagnetic pulsations at low and mid latitudes. The technique of data adaptive filtering is used to identify Pi 2's concealed by the presence of typical daytime Pc type pulsations. Convincing new evidence is presented demonstrating that Pi 2 pulsations occur simultaneously in both the ...

An intracellular transporter mitigates the CO2‐induced decline in iron content in Arabidopsis shoots

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study identifies a gene encoding a transmembrane protein, MIC, which contributes to the reduction of shoot Fe content observed in plants under elevated CO2. MIC is a putative Fe transporter localized to the Golgi and endosomal compartments. Its post‐translational regulation in roots may represent a potential target for improving plant nutrition ...

The Froissart bound for inelastic cross-sections

open access: yes, 2009
We prove that while the total cross{}-section is bounded by $(\pi/m_\pi^2) \ln^2 s$, where $s$ is the square of the c.m. energy and $m_\pi$ the mass of the pion, the total inelastic cross{}-section is bounded by $(1/4)(\pi/m_\pi^2) \ln^2 s$, which is 4 ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

An Exact Diagonalization Demonstration of Incommensurability and Rigid Band Filling for N Holes in the t-J Model

open access: yes, 1993
We have calculated S(q) and the single particle distribution function for N holes in the t - J model on a non--square sqrt{8} X sqrt{32} 16--site lattice with periodic boundary conditions; we justify the use of this lattice in compariosn to those of ...

The Stability Analysis for a 2 × 2 Conservation Law with PI Controller and PDP Controller

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, 2023
This article is concerned with the stability analysis of a 2×2 conservation law with PI and PDP boundary feedback control. In the PI controller case, the authors establish a sufficient and necessary stability condition for feedback parameters by Walton ...
